Virginia Dem. says guns need to be titled, registered, gun owners like ‘little children’

On Wednesday, Mike Dickinson, a Virginia Democrat running to replace Eric Cantor, R-Va., in the House of Representatives, compared gun owners to children in a message on Twitter. Earlier in the day, he said guns should be “titled” and registered just like cars.

“Gun owners are like little kids right now. They all the rights but none of the responsibility (sic). With rights comes responsibility,” he tweeted.

One person said Dickinson should either “quit huffing paint thinner or quit twitter.”

“Reading your tweets is like watching Idiocracy,” added “Chair Force One.”

One person, however, expressed hope he would win the election “so you can use ARMED Govt agents to disarm these gun owners.” We were informed by email that individual was being facetious with his comment.

In another tweet, Dickinson said that anyone who sells a gun should be responsible if that weapon is used in a crime, making a comparison to bar owners who sell alcohol to those who drink and drive.

“If you as a private person sell someone a gun and it is used in a crime you should be held civilly responsible,” he said.

“If you sell a gun and it ends up being used in a crime or shooting- you should be held responsible,” he wrote in another message.

“Gun retailers should be as well if a gun is used in crime,” he added in another tweet.

Dickinson, however, said he is not for “removing guns,” but compared them “to the norovirus” and made it clear he wants them to be treated like vehicles, and all sellers held responsible for actions taken after the sale.

He also suggested every state have the same gun control laws.

“If every state had same gun control laws, America would be healthy. However we do not. We have some sick states that get everyone else ill,” he tweeted.

He also went after the NRA, saying the organization should fight for abortion and LGBT rights since it supports freedom.

Recently, Dickinson attacked Fox News and suggested the FCC “monitor and regulate” the network.

If I’m not mistaken, those are “real” assault weapons. Full-auto selectable. No?

” - - - - ruled mentally incompetent. - - - “

The above quoted part is going to cause a lot of Federal Politicians in “both” political parties to become gunless as well as gutless.

Politicians should be required to submit to background checks, drug tests, and take the SAT (graded the old way).

Bless his little heart. Stupid can not be fixed. I have started rereading The Out of the Ashes series of books by William W.Johnstone. I still find it amazing how right he was. The first one was published about 1983.

Fox News does nothing but tell lies and mistruths. They have unqualified political analysts. We need FCC to monitor and regulate them.

Mike Dickinson, a 34-year-old Richmond Democrat seeking the House seat currently held by Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., received what was called a "chilly reception" from Spotsylvania County Democrats Monday night, fredricksburg.com reported. Local Democrats like Richard Toye reportedly expressed concerns over Dickinson's association with local strip clubs and his lack of experience.

Dickinson, who admitted doing consulting work for adult businesses, recently sent a letter to the editor of The Free Lance–Star castigating some Democratic women who opposed his candidacy because of his “background in business with adult clubs.”

Dickinson, however, said that “judging people by outdated stereotypes is exactly what Democrats are supposed to be against.”

Spotsylvania Democratic Committee member Opal Stroup took exception to his letter.

“You’re asking us to donate money to you, you’re asking us to work our butts off for you but then you write a letter to the editor that attacks women in Chesterfield,” she said. “Do you think that’s a real wise strategy?” She also asked about letters he wrote to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

In January 2013, Dickinson claimed to be the CEO of Mid-Atlantic Showclubs, an adult business.

“But tonight you said you just consulted,” Stroup told Dickinson. “So which is it? You either misrepresented yourself to the public or you’re misrepresenting now.”

Recently, Dickinson accused Fox News of lying and suggested the network be monitored and regulated by the FCC.

“Fox News does nothing but tell lies and mistruths. They have unqualified political analysts. We need FCC to monitor and regulate them,” he said on Twitter.

When confronted by Sean Hannity on an interview that aired Tuesday, Dickinson claimed the network lied by referring to the Affordable Care Act as Obamacare. He also claimed the network promotes hate by calling the ACA “Obamacare,” apparently unaware that President Obama has called the law “Obamacare.”

On Wednesday, he told Hannity the FCC should monitor all networks to ensure only news is presented.

Dickinson has also claimed the NRA descended from the KKK, and claimed the Tea Party and the KKK are “one in the same.

After Tuesday’s interview, Dickinson said those who want the truth in the Benghazi terror attack suffer from a mental disorder. He doubled down on Wednesday, playing the race card.

“Benghazi truthers show the true racism in this country. Bush got treated innocent till guilty with 9/11,President Obama guilty till innocent,” he said.

His analogy is more like trying to hold a liquor store liable for selling a handle of vodka to someone who goes home, consumes it all, and then goes out driving and kills someone.

Is the Next Alan Grayson Challenging House Majority Leader?

like Grayson, Mike Dickinson is very progressive

We need to treat our teachers like heroes. We need to to give teachers access to the same benefits of the GI Bill, allowing them a taxpayer funded education. We need to give teachers the same benefits and pay as the military so that we can attract the best of the best.

2) Equality/Women’s Rights. Simply said if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem. If you vote yes on or pass bills that discriminate you are racist/homophobe. We need people in government who will stand up and fight everyday for all to have equal rights.

3) Media. I feel strongly we need the FCC to monitor and regulate the media for lies. Fox News is the absolute worst and responsible for 75 percent of the lies that circulate about President Obama today. It is not a free speech question. Opinions are opinions. You can express it. However, if you call yourself news you have a responsibility and obligation to tell the truth. It seems nobody understands that the Affordable Care Act is not government insurance. It’s not single payer. You go to a website, you get bids from private companies, and you pick. Some in the news media would have you believe this is raging socialism.

We are chocked full of ignorance in America right now, because the garbage Fox “News” puts out.

4) Workers rights. While equality is important to me, so is a new form of discrimination- classism. Big business will not rest till they break every union, avoid every insurance cost, pay as little as possible, and exploit. My view is that businesses need to readjust the business model and the cut ownership takes. Yes, we are going to make you pay your employees more. Yes, we are going to make you provide insurance. You can either raise your prices and run off customers, or adjust the cut ownership gets. God forbid, the owner of Papa Johns has to forgo one Learjet or mansion. If you are used to making 100k off your business, you need to adjust your business model to make 80k. In America, no one should work 40 hours a week and be homeless or live in a car. If you work 40 hours a week you should have a roof over your families head and food on your plate. Unions are critical. They ensure fair treatment of employees.

Long term, I have always been a fan of a single payer system. I always have liked it. Why? I feel like insurance is very important for every American to have and something that is a benefit to ALL of society. No one should lose a home or face bankruptcy because they are sick. The ACA is great. It’s a start. Let’s see how it is in five to ten years.

We must raise the salaries of our true American heroes; teachers. Attracting the best and brightest to teach requires a significant financial commitment and it is one we must make. We need to find ways to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to go to college with low interest student loans. I would like to find a way to create low cost or no cost higher education. In the meantime I think that we should at least give student loans from the government at the same interest rate we give loans to big businesses.
