I’m up in New Hampshire this weekend, attending the 2014 Northeast Republican Leadership Conference, and thus far it’s been pretty rocking event. One of many dignitaries appearing at the gathering is Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who has been hitting multiple events here, ranging from a St. Patrick’s day themed breakfast, a cocktail reception and a speaking engagement at dinner. Is he planning a run at the White House? Like every other potential candidate at this point, he’s not coming straight out and saying it, but he certainly has the look. (And why else do you come to New Hampshire?)
I got the chance to talk to the Governor for a bit myself and really enjoyed his dinner speech. One thing I noticed right away is that Jindal seems a lot more comfortable speaking away from his home turf than some of his appearances from a few years ago. He was confident, poised, seemingly at ease with the crowds and demonstrated a great sense of humor. This was evident at the aforementioned breakfast and the media was taking note of it.

He gets beat up for not being telegenic, but none of the other contenders have ever won any beauty contests. His age and ethnicity are also plusses in countering the 'old white male' meme.
There’s no reason to concede the charisma factor to Hillary. She had to cry to stop her campaign being blown up in New Hampshire. She doesn’t have 1% of Bill’s people skills.
“Executive experience” is something people only pretend to care about when they support a candidate who was a Governor, and/or oppose another candidate whom is or was a U.S. Senator.
Case in point: who here would support Chris Christie over Rand Paul or Ted Cruz?
He is a great speaker. In person, he’s excellent, but it doesn’t seem to come across on tv. I am a big Jindal fan. I have reservations about his ability to get through the media obstacle course.
He looks extremely young to me.

I can tell ya, you don’t need Piyush ‘Bobby’ Jindal as President. He has NOT brought Louisiana forward.

I also live in Louisiana. I’ve voted Republican since Richard Nixon (not particularly proud of that vote but I was only 18 and it was better than voting for the Democrat). I enthusiastically voted for Jindal for his first term as governor (much less enthusiastically for his reelection) and have been sorely disappointed. He talks a good game and occasionally pokes his finger in Obama’s eye, but he has done very little for the state of Louisiana. He started his governorship off with a “bang” through his much touted ethics reform, but the reform lacked any enforcement. He “reformed” our schools but the professional educators have managed to work around his reforms. Our state is just as corrupt as it was before he assumed office and our schools are just as terrible. Cronyism is alive and well in Louisiana under Gov. Jindal. Yes, he is well educated and has been touted as an excellent administrator in his pre-governor days, but I just can’t understand what he has done as governor to keep winning the praise of conservatives and the conservative media.
I'm next door in MS and tend to like Jindal. When you say he hasn't done much for your State, what do you use as a touchstone? Compared to the last Governor? Do you look at the forces that might be a hindrance to proposed changes he may have? IOW, who stands in opposition to his ideas? Louisiana ain't much different than Mississippi in that it has a combination of very conservative folks mingled with a boatload of left-wing tax-suckers - surely Jindal doesn't have a cleared road to drive his ideas down.
If you have solid, researched data on Jindal, it would be nice to have it so others have a basis to do more research and make decisions...

Again, if he is ‘so Republican’, why is he standing behind this Common Core stuff?
He is clueless on amnesty and immigration.
It is unfortunate that Vitter had that scandal because I think he is the only guy from the Deep South that could ever win IMO.

He has done a good job bringing in jobs. There are a lot of plants and expansions going in !
He was worked hard at reforming the ethics of this state and the schools.
The Common Core stuff is a school board issue.
