Evidence of a plot by Malaysian Islamists to hijack a passenger jet in a 9/11-style attack is being investigated in connection with the disappearance of Flight MH370

An al-Qaeda supergrass told a court last week that four to five Malaysian men had been planning to take control of a plane, using a bomb hidden in a shoe to blow open the cockpit door.

It’s not really strange. You should see some of the stuff we used to make with left over spare parts. We built a cockpit mockup once because we had no way to see the actual outputs of the central air data computer (this computer controls numerous systems on an aircraft)during testing.

The test equipment just had a bunch of numbers on a display so we used the wiring diagrams and fabricated cabling so we could run indicators etc. This way when we simulated a climb or dive we can see the displays moving the same way a pilot would.

I am still just completely floored by the fact that someone paid almost 300 million bucks for an airplane and it doesn’t even have a tracking mechanism on it. Didn’t anyone learn a lesson about transponders on 9/11? I mean, cheap semi tractors have better tracking mechanisms installed by their owners than this passenger jet.

if uncertain of fuel range, hedging the bet is higher altitude

I guess pilots could set up a system to practice or have a hobby ..it just seems strange.

Not so strange. Read yesterday at several sources where pilots state it is a hobby for many.

Did the simulator include radar evasion?

It might be good for glide duration, but not for fuel consumption... oxygen that is needed for combustion starts getting kinda scarce up that high, density drops and there isn’t as much lift.. everything has to work harder to stay flying as you get higher

my thinkin is it allows more than one attempt to land via a fly over / re- try with higher percentages of success

Investigators say the missing Malaysia Airlines jet was hijacked, steered off-course and could have reached Pakistan.

A Malaysian government official said people with significant flying experience could have turned off the flight’s communication devices.

The representative said that hijacking theory was now ‘conclusive’, and, as a result, police have raided the luxury homes of both the captain and the co-pilot.

Raiyan ‏@TripleR309 1m Some are wondering if the Boeing 777's flight systems were hacked by a preprogrammed virus. Surprisingly It sounds realistic #MH370

KUALA LUMPUR - Amid intensifying calls for Prime Minister Najib Razak to step down to take responsibility for mishandling the missing flight MH370 crisis, and after days of secretly holding the doomed pilot’s laptop, the Malaysian authorities have suddenly ‘loosened’ their lips in what appears to be a bid to draw in and tarnish Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.

The 66-year-old Anwar is Najib’s political arch rival, and who the day before the plane went missing on Saturday, had been convicted and jailed on sodomy charges that many have opined were manifestly trumped up by the Najib regime.
