Barack Obama, Political Wrecking Ball
Commentary Magazine ^ | 14 Mar 14 | Peter Wehner

By now it’s settled on most people, including Democrats, that the loss of Alex Sink to David Jolly in Florida’s 13th Congressional District was, in the words of the New York Times, “devastating” to Democrats. It’s a district Ms. Sink carried in her unsuccessful race for governor against Rick Scott, a district that Barack Obama carried in his two elections, and a district that demographically now favors Democrats. In addition, Ms. Sink raised more money and ran a better campaign than Jolly. Even Bill Clinton lent his efforts to her campaign. And yet she lost.

What should particularly alarm Democrats is that Ms. Sink, who was not in Congress in 2010 and therefore did not cast a vote in favor of the Affordable Care Act, ran what Democrats considered a “textbook” campaign when it came to dealing with ObamaCare. She said she wanted to fix it, not repeal it; and she attempted to paint Jolly as a right-wing extremist on abortion, Social Security privatization, and in wanting to repeal ObamaCare. And yet she lost.

If Republicans do take over the Senate, I'd like to see if they would be willing to start a veto override fight

Where are you going to get 291 votes in the House?

Obama has been in office for over five years now, having gotten into office without having a support group of politicians. Is it part of his arrogance that he's done nothing to build up politicians for the future?

It's good for us. The RINOs are globalist backstabbing jerks, and no one's going to switch parties to vote for them. The dems have no new talent or messaging developing. Constitutional conservatives who can articulate the issues should have no trouble bringing in dems and independents fed up with the mess Obama has created.

If only we had someone who knows foreign affairs and world history....

Bill Clinton's record of campaigning for democrats isn't all that good, actually.

That’s very true. Still, many people think he’s been very helpful. Of course now, Obama will follow in the tradition of Clinton as a guy who could only take care of himself.

Well, obviously the author was, too! I copied and pasted .... never noticed the discrepancy so that’s shame on me.
