Someone probably said “we have to throw these people a bone to get them off our back.”
IMHO, if it was earned, it was earned.
This award should never be used to play social politics.
My gratitude goes out to these vets, along with condolences that their belated recognition is to be besmirched by association with this marxist traitor PØS.
Makes me sick to think of the future possibility that in order for the Dems to help sell the fruitization of the military that some will be awarded decorations like the MOH simply because of their fetishes instead of their actions.
Great, if these folks did things to earn the MoH.
I suspect that this is another effort by the Obama regime to divert attention from the ACA, lame foreign relations, unemployment, failing economy, etc., etc., etc.
“.at least 21 of these honorees are not in a position to protest”

It would be interesting to see who the remaining three happen to be....Obama campaign workers?
THANK-YOU for your service!
The truth is that combat recognition never has been fair. Looking at who is and who isn’t given a medal, and which medal it is makes little sense, especially from one time to another.
Acts thought worthy of a Medal of Honor in 1942 were commonly unrecognized in any way in 1945.
Giving out medals and then cutting benefits and pay
Please don’t associate these heroes with Obama. Obama is purely coincidental.
This has been on-going since 1993, and Congress made it law, approved by GWBush in 2002.
Obama couldn’t care less about the troops.
These are photo ops for a time of low personal favorability ratings.
These 24 are probably deserving, although I tend to trust the decisions of on-ground commanders at the time of any award. Battalion and company commanders (or their non-Army equivalents) in my experience agonize over getting the awarding of medals right. I don’t like second-guessing them. At the same time, I realize that a chaotic time of combat can distort perspective since so much that is incredibly courageous and honorable is taking place, and so often ongoing combat steals time that could be devoted to paperwork.
I don’t think that’s Obama’s motive, though. His motive is a 37 percent approval rating.
In as much as I haven't read the citations for any of these 24, much less attempted to reconstruct eye-witness accounts of the actions (as if that is realistically possible for WWII any more), I have to take the awards at face value.
Therefore my position is that their honor is being besmirched by Chief Mom-Jeans even mentioning their names.
A “Medal of Honor” coming from that assh-— is like “window dressing”. If we had a REAL American President, it would mean a hell of a lot more to the recipients than coming from odumbo who HATES our military.
None the less, I honor and salute those who will receive their due.
point taken
Obama just wants more photo-ops to show how pro-military he is.
As the story pointed out this was the work of Congress. All Obama does is hand them out.
I wish that there was a list with the article. There is one person in particular I remember reading about here on FR who deserved at least two Medals of Honor for actions in WWII after holding his position against Japanese attacks, but was denied the award because a higher commander didn’t want to give it to a Jew. All I remember is the first name. The Nips should never have messed with a Jewish guy named David.
Don't worry. Obama will make sure that the MOH is held to the same standards as the Nobel Prize.
