Turkey Threatens to Close Bosphorus for Russian Ships [also will not recognize Crimean vote]

Turkey will close the Bosphorus for Russian ships, if there is violence against the Crimean Tatars, said Turkish prime minister Recep Erdogan.

In a phone conversation with Russian president Vladimir Putin, quoted by a diplomatic source, Erdogan also said that Turkey will not recognize the referendum in Crimea in which 97% of the voters cast their ballots in favour of joining the Russian Federation.

“Turkey wants Ukraine to keep its territorial integrity,” Erdogan said. “If NATO takes a decision on the matter, we will certainly stick with it.”

Earlier Erdogan had a phone conversation with the leader of the Crimean Tatars Mustafa Dzhemilev in which they discussed the threats against the Tatars in connection to the factual annexation of Crimea.

I’m rooting for Russia against Turkey, at least we’ll get Constantinople back in the deal.

It's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople,
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night.

You’re right. I think we can take it as a given that Putin takes any serious leader more seriously than Dumbass.

Maybe Russia will complain Turkey is violating its treaty agreement.
Oh wait, never mind...

The Chinese are on the same page with the Ruskies as far as Muzzies go. The race for the oil fields will be “game on”. It will happen, and as the World of Islam is compressed ever Westward, Israel will be evermore so threatened. Armageddon my friends.

Might or might not hurt the Russkies. I wonder what game Erdogan is playing.

That definition excludes Russia that just invaded a neighboring country, who’s borders it agreed to by treaty just a few years ago.

You know, you might want to look at our own country and stop our politicians from invading/bombing places like Kosovo and violating treaties before jumping on the moral high ground here. Because the assholes we have in office lately, Dem and Republican have taken a glowing dump all over our Constitution.

Sorry. I love America. The one I grew up in. But the one we are in now has no business telling anyone squat until we get our own house in order.

So you love America, but compare it to a country that has along long history of unprovoked aggression and territorial imperialism against its neighbors.

I remember when conservatives used to puke at the “ moral equivalency” argument when deployed against the US.

Spare me they Hyerpatriotism. You have an issue with the fiasco over there? Get on a plane and fix it.

I remember when conservatives followed the advice of the founders and were supportive of staying the hell out of foreign entanglements. Now if you know netter than they, Get on a plane to DC and fix that mess.

But to ignore our own issues while condemning someone else is pretty asinine. BTW, we killed a hell of a lot more people in Clinton’s little dog wag than Russia has an a good long time. Face up to what they did in your name.

An attack on a NATO member is considered an attack on all.

Oops. Too many idiots have forgotten that fact.

Got it. You are fine with invasion of a peaceful neighbor by a larger imperialist power, who signed a treaty recognizing borders and sovereignty.
