So he had a gun. Maine has shall-issue CCW, and allows open carry. So even if he DID have a gun, it would likely have been perfectly legal.

So what if he did have a gun on his own property. So what if he had 100 guns on his own property.

The cops reaction to showing up armed is sorta understandable given that they were led to believe there was an actual gun involved.

It is not illegal to be armed and tell someone to leave your property, as long as you do not threaten them with the weapon (which would have been impossible in this case). Either the tree cutters lied, which the article does not mention, or the police received a report of a legal action and decided to raid the man's home anyway.

If the cops were lied to they are scum for not charging the tree cutters with a false police report. If they were not lied to they are scum for breaking into the man's home with guns.

Lucky man. I managed two out of three. No tatt, no death on motorcycle (although we tried) but had to wait until wife no.2 to hit the mark. 28 years later still a go with no. 2.

THE MAN WAS NOT CHARGED?

Why were the police not charged for felonious assault with weapons? It is not against the law to possess a firearm on one’s own property. It is however against the law to violate someone’s rights and due process, while armed!

Felony, while armed.

Police armed with assault rifles

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTdhVxva5KU

Governor Cuomo and Mayor Bloomberg said that "assault weapons" are "weapons of war", and don't belong on the streets of America.

If that's true, why do the police need them? Who are the police at war with?

Why? Did they tell the cops that he was waving it around or something? The police had guns too. Should everyone have freaked out about that?

Norridgewock man with gun tattoo wakes up to armed police
http://www.onlinesentinel.com/news/Norridgewock_man_with_gun_tattoo_wakes_up_to_armed_police_.html

There's a couple of pictures at that link:

Officer Porkins, who has OBVIOUSLY been "eating out the substance" of the local Connecticut peasantry,

And, Officer Tacticool MaryMallNinja with his "assault weapon", 'cause he's AT WAR with American "insurgents", aka "the peasantry"...

It seems the police thought there was an actual gun involved so they came prepared for worst case.

Why did the tree cutters report there was a gun? Are they some level of stupid I can’t comprehend?

That’s why I am not slamming the cops on this one. They didn’t decide it was a gun tattoo and come running heavily armed anyway. They would not have known there was not a more dire situation happening until they got there.
