Oops , I’ve forgotten to add that Russia’s current average pension of about 10,000 rubles ($300) versus $160 in Ukraine and average wages of about 33,000 rubles ($1000) a month, versus $500 per month in Ukraine.

The Crimeans will see their average income doubled.

For a lot of voters, pocketbook issues sold them on reunification with Russia.

Every one is expecting a marked improvement in their lives. Not just supporters but also opponents of the Russian annexation.

It remains to be seen the extent to which Russia will be able to keep its promises.
