In recent weeks, I've talked to several Washington politicos close to Bill and Hillary Clinton, and when I've asked if they will be joining Hillary's presidential machine, should she run, I've received a variant of this (understandably) not-for-citation reply: If Mark Penn is involved, no f-ing way.
Penn is famousor infamousfor being the chief strategist for Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign of inevitability that turned into a colossal failure. That effort was marked by hubris, lousy messaging, poor strategic planning, and legendary internal tensionsincluding back-biting, leaks, and fierce inside politicsthat many within the politerati blamed, fairly or not, on Penn. In the book Game Change, John Heilemann and Mark Halperin described the campaign as "a simmering cauldron of long-held animositiesmost of them directed at Penn." It was personal.

Fire the strategist because you can’t fire the candidate.
Sounds to me like he'll fit right in. What's the concern?
I think the only thing Obama has done well is to make sure the next president will NOT be a democrat.
Now it’s up to the GOP to make sure their candidate is someone who will actually be good for America.... For a change.
Agree 100%.
She could have Rove. He hasn’t shown any real hubris as a political consultant for Conservatives.
Hillary lost to Obama because the prestitudes kept silent on the Edwards story long enough to cause her to fall behind the affirmative action candidate. Even Bill O’Reilly admitted on the air he sat on the story (not that the Democraps watch Fox).
They blocked you before, they’ll block you again. You ain’t gonna be Prez, Bitch.
Now you’re starting to understand what that keyboard cost you.
When was Rove a consultant for a Conservative? Must have missed that.
That is hilarious!
Do not say bossy... you ought to be proud to wear her suicide vests in her struggle for women’s rights.
It makes no difference anyways, she will get her campaign contributions form any terrorist.
Remember, the Clintons fire people who don’t win for them.
If only Republicans would say this about hiring Steve Schmidt, Mark McKinnon, and Nicole Wallace for starts!!
Some die!!!
Yawn...
