Florida State University (FSU) has a summer college course in circus - acrobatics and everything. Parts are open to early teenagers, and visitors can see the students perform under the big top. My younger sister did trapeze work as a 13 year old, over 50 years ago.
It used to be the same way in Fla where grew up. It started to change in the 70’s.
