(CNSNews.com) - After Russian officials laughed off the first round of sanctions imposed by the United States -- and amid fears that Russia may encroach further into Ukraine -- President Obama announced on Thursday that he is "now moving...to impose additional costs on Russia."
Among other steps, Obama said he signed a new executive order on Thursday "that gives us the authority to impose sanctions, not just on individuals, but on key sectors of the Russian economy. This is not our preferred outcome," he said.
"These sanctions would not only have a significant impact on the Russian economy but could also be disruptive to the global economy."

“Among other steps, Obama said he signed a new executive order on Thursday “that gives us the authority to impose sanctions, not just on individuals, but on key sectors of the Russian economy. This is not our preferred outcome,” he said.”
Does this chit for brains understand that he can’t write an executive order giving himself authority to do anything?
He either has the authority or he doesn’t, no EO will change that.
Obama has already ruined our economy but now he can blame Putin for it.
Just got to share that pain, huh, Obama?
Our worst enemies are in elected and appointed offices in this land. They make the Duma look like mental giants.
When is Vlad going to tell Obama that he isn't going to be providing any more transportation to the ISS?
How does the US gain if countries and corporations doing business with Russia will avoid having bank and other assets in the US?
“Obama has already ruined our economy but now he can blame Putin for it.”
He is pretending that our country of 300 million, with its hollowed-out industries and military, is still a big player in a world increasingly dominated by Asian countries of billions. He wanted the US to lose its role as a world leader, and now regrets that he got his wish...
In other words, stop us before we kill ourselves!
Every single thing this fool puts his greasy hands on he screws up. EXPECT the world economy to have more problems because of this.
As for Obama he needs to mind his own business..and take care of the crises he has caused here such as..10 million unemployed, 17 Trillion in debt.
“and now regrets that he got his wish...”
He has no regrets. He is doing exactly what he meant to do, what his bosses put him in the White House to do. It is not incompetence.
Why can no one, even here, understand or admit to themselves and others that this guy is a Manchurian candidate, groomed and promoted through our political system by enemies of America for exactly this purpose?
Yep...what you said.
I’m sure this was done in close consultation with Merkel and other key European allies.
Right?
“Why can no one, even here, understand or admit to themselves and others that this guy is a Manchurian candidate, groomed and promoted through our political system by enemies of America for exactly this purpose?”
I’m the first to concur with that assessment; his own personal agenda has taken a back seat as “his people” (the ones he “communiyy activisted” for) have fallen farther behind “the world that matters” for the last five years.
Fixed.
Be careful Vlad. Barack might blow some of that smoke in your face. He's been blowing it up our asses for years now and is very, VERY good at it!
This is dumb. There is nothing the USA can do about this. 0 is just mad and is having a spat with Putin.
I’VE known this from an email years ago before he was running for president , about some doctor that went to russia and was at some house and the guys wife who was still a good commie , was spouting off about how we were going to have a black president named barak. So I would say bambie is just following orders.
“These sanctions would not only have a significant impact on the Russian economy but could also be disruptive to the global economy.”
... and the American companies installed in Russia, could lose at least $50 billion a year.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce called for close cooperation with Europe, whose annual trade with Russia is about 15 times larger than that of the United States.
“A go-it-alone approach by the United States could be both economically damaging and ineffective in accomplishing its goals,” said the chamber’s vice president, Myron Brilliant.
