Vladimir Putin probably didn’t expect that newly announced Russian sanctions on nine Americans – three top White House aides, three Republicans and three Democrats in Congress – would spark a bipartisan love-in in Washington.

But that’s exactly what happened on Thursday as Moscow retaliated for expanded U.S. sanctions by freezing the assets of a select handful of high-profile Americans and banning them from travel inside Russia.

Here’s an early response from a spokesman for Republican House Speaker John Boehner on Twitter to Dan Pfeiffer, a senior adviser to President Obama, for making the list...

Looks like Putin has been setting up the chess board for the last few years and almost checkmated US via our economy in 2008 while partnered with a reluctant China.

Now that he has had his lieutenant and crew in the WH working on his behalf these last few, our economy and the dollar should be an easy takedown.

And with all the systems they've put into place in our great American lockdown, the rest of their plans for US should be easy to complete.

America unites behind Obama!

Uh...I’m only back here to try to kick his butt....

Putin mocking these guys is just too funny.

If fearless leader had put the damn missles in Poland and shown some damn guts, Putin would have thought a little bit harder about his Crimea move...But the weenie brigade won...and now they are being humiliated...

Its funny as hell except its OUR great country being laughed at...because of these incompetent a$$holes. All of them, both sides.

While I'm positive that Obama is working hard for Communism (and Islam), I'm not so sure he is working for Putin.

While Putin will use coincidence to take down American policy enough notches to accomplish his goal, he was not hired to make America great.

He was hired by Russians to make Russia great, and protect Russians, and it seems it is riskier to mistreat Russians these days.

Yes, immediately followed by fiery rhetoric and a couple more bright red lines...

You forgot the obligatory "strongly worded letter to follow"

Country leaders playing tacky word games - millions upon millions of people in the US, Russia, Crimea, trying to live and not die due to these leaders, and we get tacky word games - “You do this to me and I’ll do that same thing to you, so, there!”

Neither Bush nor Reagan would put up with this crap. Putin doesn’t give a diddly what weasel Hussein does. “Beam me up, Scotty.”

Sadly, that it is, and there is a lesson there.

Americans elected them all (although I do not pretend there wasn't some DemoRat election fraud in some DemoRat controlled areas in the US).

Americans must live with the consequences of cowardice before PC, and cowardice to impeach.

Putin would not only respect Reagan, he would be able to trust him.

That's the key to diplomacy and courage.

These people are so in over their heads that it’s not even funny. Putin “sanctioned” them to show them that the “sanctions” are stupid and worthless. It’s his way of saying “I’m rubber. You’re glue. What bounces off me sticks to you.” But the dummies in our government are taking him serious. Putin must be laughing his head off.

Your whole post is well done, but I will just respond to this: Putin must be laughing his head off.

Us foreign policy for the last several years has been focused on getting our "enemies" to laugh themselves to death.

Yep, they irritate me pretty good, with an occasional bright spot like Sharyl Attkisson.
