SCOTT WAGNER BEATS THE GOP ESTABLISHMENT - CAP and a Pennsylvania write-in revolt.
American Thinker ^ | 3.20.14 | Jeffrey Lord

First, it was a Florida congressional race. Now? A Pennsylvania special election for the state Senate. The Citizens Alliance of Pennsylvania scores a major win — and yes, the winner says he heard about Obamacare. Scott Wagner is a Pennsylvania state Senator this morning. It wasn’t supposed to happen.

In a stunning upset, the York County businessman, taking a stand against the state’s political establishment of both parties, made state history by winning a special election for the Pennsylvania state Senate — in a write-in landslide, defeating both the Republican and Democrat nominees.

Wagner captured 48 percent of the vote. His Republican opponent, a state representative with the backing of the local and state GOP, received 27 percent; the Democrat 26 percent.

The election was set in motion by the resignation of a sitting Republican senator. The GOP establishment, in this case both in York County (located in the heart of central Pennsylvania) and in Harrisburg, decided to back state Representative Ron Miller...

Question, neverdem.

What's the procedure for getting a post, like this one, highlighted in the “Editorial” column on the right side of the page?

I've scooped big news stories many times at Free Republic, and I've had several dozen posts that generated more than a hundred comments.

But I've never had a post highlighted in the right side columns.

great read. this is surely a template for conservative victory from the bottom up. it’s a model for everything that an independent conservative needs to do to win. this man and his group CAP (Citizen’s Alliance for Pensylvania) could catalyze a national conservative party. God’s speed to mr. wagner. CAP...even better than TEA.

Unlike the Florida race where GOPe candidate Jolly beat the Democrat, the Tea Party was in essence the “third party” in the form of Scott Wagner running against the Republican and Democrat candidates as a write-in.

The conservative grassroots here in my county (York) showed up to vote Wagner in. We are mad with the alleged Republican majority in our legislature that won’t go against the unions with pension reform or abolition of the unionized state stores that monopolize distribution of adult beverages.

We are even madder that the GOP controlled legislature and “Republican” Governor Tom Corbett dumped at 28 cent a gallon gas tax increase on us late last year.

Bookmarking this one as proof that a vote for the real conservative is not a vote for the Dem. Thanks for the Friday victory post.

Will no one discuss the hidden gem in this?

I.E. the write in vote as a game changer.

For Worse Linda Murkowski did it in Alaska, and Now Mayor Duggan did it in Detroit to get on the ballot, and now this Senator.

IMHO it can be a powerful tool for an insurgent politician who wants to throw the long ball...

The pockets of the unions for mass transit workers and construction workers will be full and they will donate to their favorite politicians.

If you read deep into this article, you find that half the PAC’s (35 of 70) that help fund Republican Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi’s campaign treasury of 1.3 million dollars are union PAC’s.

You got it.

The GOPe machine tried to scare people around here telling them voting for Wagner would help the Democrat win.

Wagner won by 21% over his nearest rival as the third candidate.

This is great news. Perhaps, in the long run, this will turn PA back into a red state. There are too many infiltrators in the PA GOPe that work inside the party to keep the liberal interests in power.

I hope this guy starts showing up in campaign stops and ads with other CAP candidates. I hope CAP candidates kick ass all over the GOPe on primary day in May.
