The challenger in the Republican primary for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is confident in his campaign and feels like he would win if the election was held now.
Bevin, however, is calling on those voters who he believes will choose him in May, to demand a debate with McConnell.
A cardboard cutout of McConnell stood with Bevin, as he said McConnell is dodging his own voting record, the people of Kentucky, the media and Bevin.
Bevin said he has agreed to at least four debates or forums with McConnell, including one in April on public television.
The McConnell campaign questions why he would bother with Bevin when Bevin cant beat McConnells campaign manager. This being a reference to this past Constitutional Day forum with Jesse Benton, McConnells campaign manager, challenged Bevin to discuss his views on Article V.
McConnells campaign said, After already losing one debate to our campaign manager, 'Bailout Bevin' has spent the last eight months changing his story to whatever he thinks people want to hear..."
Bevin, along with the Democrat front-runner, Alison Lundergan Grimes, said that McConnell is driven by naked personal ambition.

Hes not afraid to debate Matt.
He cant and really its unfair to expect a doddering old man, who drools out the corner of his mouth, due in large part to his dementia and suffers from bouts of Turrets.
It’s sickening to prop a functional cadaver on stage and expect much of anything from it....
McConnell is crushing Bevin in the polls. Why would he agree to a debate? He has nothing to gain.

Politically, you’re correct. But in my view the people should always be able to have their candidates debate each other, at least once.
Pun intended!
The odds of a debate are slim. No upside for McConnell. Too bad, though, since I would like to see a debate of some ideas for a change.
OK, I demand that McConell debate me!
Bad sign
Losers demand debates
In military terms, he is fighting on the low ground with inferior numbers. Tea Party realizes this too and will not pour their limited resources into his campaign. Bevin is a good man, I think it would be wise for him to keep his campaign really positive, no cheap shots to hurt his party, and make lots of friends and come back strong. There’s other positions and other times, we will need him
Good luck with that Matt. Ole Mitchie is counting on laying low and letting his political machine drag him across the finish line.

True. But, I say again, as I’ve said before: Anything can happen between now and the Primary in May. McConnell could have a stroke and be in a wheel chair drooling by Election Day. Or he could have an aneurism and go to that big Senate Cloak Room in the sky.
