Kenyan polygamy law: Female MPs storm out of parliament
BBC ^ | March 21, 2014 | Unattributed

Posted on 03/21/2014 7:05:51 AM PDT by Seizethecarp

Female MPs in Kenya have stormed out of a late-night parliamentary session in a row over the legalisation of polygamy.

The law is intended to bring civil law, where a man is only allowed one wife, into line with customary law, where some cultures allow multiple partners.

But male MPs voted to amend the new marriage bill to allow men to take as many wives as they like without consulting existing spouses.

Traditionally, first wives are supposed to give prior approval.

The women walked out in disgust over the matter.

'This is Africa'

MP Samuel Chepkong'a, who proposed the amendment, said that when a woman got married under customary law, she understood that the marriage was open to polygamy, so no consultation was necessary, Kenya's Daily Nation newspaper reports.

Mohammed Junet, an MP representing a constituency from the western Nyanza province, agreed.

"When you marry an African woman, she must know the second one is on the way and a third wife… this is Africa," Kenya's Capital News website quotes him as saying.

Plans to ban the payment of bride prices were dropped - although a person must be 18 to marry and this will apply to all cultures.

Proposals to ensure equal property and inheritance rights were also watered down - a woman will be entitled to 30% of matrimonial property after death or divorce.

Kenya's marriage bill: Specifies that marriage is between a man and a woman, but does not explicitly ban custom of an infertile woman marrying a younger woman.

Sorry about my errands/delay. Here are the links:

http://standardmedia.co.ke/m1/story.php?id=2000092553&pageNo=2

The third link is the one that mentions the motorcycle accident/death.

But don’t imagine this will slow the Mal-Valers down. They’ll just say Kenya’s two largest newspapers are in on it. Also in on it are all the people who knew Mark Ndesandjo and his family when Mark was growing up. All the neighbors, all the classmates, all the teachers, administrators, principals, etc. All these ppl wd have known there was never any David, but they’ve never uttered a word, not even a post or two on an anonymous blog.

You see, everyone plays along. When the Daily Nation mentions David over and over, and The Standard (of Nairobi) does the same, readers who know better just shrug and move on. It’s no big deal.

Just as it wouldn’t be any big deal here, if Obama had suddenly added a brother to his own family. Suppose in ‘95 Obama had announced he lost his twin brother, Stan, in ‘87. He said it was a family tragedy, and that’s why they didn’t talk much about it.

You’d think some of the ppl who went to Hi Schl w Obama wd say something. Something like, ‘But except for his sister in Indonesia, he was an only child’.

But no. Nobody would say anything. If Obama decided, in ‘95, that he needed the mythos of a heretofore unknown brother, ppl wd simply accept it and move on.

Right?

This is precisely the problem w Mal-Valism. Nobody ever steps forward to confirm any part of it. Not one person has mentioned Stanley Ann being absent her senior yr at Mercer Island. Instead, the school raises money on the basis of their most famous *graduate*, Stanley Ann Dunham. Hmm.

You’d think a Mal-Valer wd pen them a letter, and mention that it’s fraudulent to pretend a person graduated who didn’t. But this is what’s so weird about Mal-Valism. They never confront the liars. Never.

For a while Kapiolani Medical Center had posted, and was raising $ based on, that hokey letter Obama sent them, claiming he was born there. Then WND sent the hospital a letter and pointed out that if Obama wasn’t born there, they were committing fraud. Boom; the letter disappeared and hasn’t been seen since.

Why won’t the Mal-Valers do similarly w Mercer Island? If they actually get results, the way WND did, they could throw that in the face of the doubters. Still they make no move. Hmm.

I could go on. Nobody at UoW has ever contested the fact that SADO went there a semester. No one who participated in the ‘forged’ transcript has ever blown a whistle. The forged LFBC has a whistleblower, a prominent one. But not one soul has ever said a word about ‘forging’ SADO’s transcripts. Nor has any prof who is listed as having taught her denied it. Profs deny having taught Obama at Columbia. But none have ever questioned SADO’s HI or WA transcripts/class attendance. Hmm.

Nothing about Mal-Valism makes sense. Yet some ppl cling to it. & don’t think a prominent article in Kenya’s largest newspaper will change that. It won’t. Nothing will. Ever. Sad but true.

One more thing. Ppl will say SADO’s profs are all dead. I don’t know; some no doubt are, but I doubt they all are. Nevertheless, let’s go w classmates. One of Obama’s classmates at Columbia swears Obama wasn’t there. He’s gone on record, & isn’t shy a bit.

How about SADO’s classmates? Well it was her actual classmates, from the graduating class at Mercer Hi, who suggested starting the scholarship in her name. They had all gotten together for a reunion, and it bothered them that SADO couldn’t be there. So they brainstormed the idea of the scholarship.

Thus, far from remarking on SADO’s absence in her senior year, her classmates actively affirm her presence.

If her Hi Schl classmates are still alive & kicking, so are quite a few of her college classmates. David Maraniss talked to some of them. They recall her at the UoH. So far, none of them has pulled a Wayne Root and claimed she wasn’t at, for instance, Washington in the fall semester of ‘61.

Why not even a single college-age SADO whistleblower?

Well maybe, in fact, likely, because SADO, unlike her shyster son, actually attended her classes and made her grades. That is the big difference.

The Kenyan 'articles' are sourced from 'Dreams' and the book by Jacobs. You could have saved yourself a lot of blah blah blah.

Page>>2 Obama Snr died in a car crash in 1982, and in 1987, his son David was killed in a motorcycle accident in Nairobi. Mark now lives in Hong Kong, adopting his Tanzanian stepfather’s name Ndesandjo.

It's proof of what? That they can read?

Thanks for the links. No one in Kenya has objected to Barry’s Muslim half-brother, Malik, and Barry’s Jewish half-brother, Mark both claiming that David existed. Both Malik and Mark have posted pictures of David on their own web pages.

I suspect that Mark has been following the Mal-Val cult claims on Free Republic, which he would have seen if he had searched his name on the web, and he may have directly intended to refute Mal-Val by placing his own adult picture on the front cover of his book. Mark has squeezed his adult picture as close as possible to his picture circa age 9 next sitting next to David circa age 6.

The new book cover picture of the two brothers shows normal aging of both boys from the prior family picture and studio pictures circa 1970 when they were circa age 5 and 2.

In the 1970 family picture, Ruth is lovingly cupping Mark’s face in her hand while holding an obviously maternally-bonded David in her arms.

The Mal-Val cult would have us believe that the 1970 family shot and the studio pictures were of two entirely different boys named Roman Obama and Barry and was taken in Boston in 1964 right before BHO Sr. and Ruth left for Kenya. Also on the cover of Mark’s new book is a circa early 1965 picture of his mom, the party girl, obviously younger less matronly as Rush in the circa 1970 picture...that Mal-Val cult says was from 1964.

The Mal-Val cultists also claim that the two boys are only about 6 months apart, when anyone who has had sons can see they are about 3 years apart, as were Mark and David.

I suspect that these claims enraged Mark and to show that he is the “darker boy” and not the unrelated “Roman Obama of Moscow” in 1980, Mark showed his adult face right next to his childhood face circa 1974 with the obvious gradual aging from the circa 1970 pictures.

The fact that David has aged normally from the circa 1970 photo to the circa 1974 photo and is still in Kenya refutes any claims that it is Barry and not David in the studio pictures of the two boys published so often in eligibility threads by Mal-Val cultists.

Slam dunk for Mark against the Mal-Val Cult!

Forgot to say, you need to enter NDESANDJO into Search on that Daily Nation site:

http://www.nation.co.ke/page/search/DailyNation/-/1148/1148/-/view/asSearch/-/r4tvx4z/-/index.html

to bring up the links which will give you the headlines to the articles, which are available elsewhere. Don’t thank or bless me, I’m happy to be helpful. /s

Only one problem with that - the dark boy isn't Mark. Funny how little space one needs to write the truth.

That is excellent analysis. Thank you.

It really is an interesting choice of images for Mark to use. Maybe you’re right, and he picked it because the younger boy is (1) so obviously David, and (2) so obviously not anybody else.

I can’t add anything to your comments on the age of those involved. There is definitely a two to three yr difference between the ages of the boys. I never realized the Mal-Valers claimed it was only a few mos. Not even close to the right ballpark.

Btw, is it generally known that in 2010 Roman Obama was appointed to the Washington DC embassy for Equatorial Guinea? He remains there to this day:

Try coming straight to the point:

You are using an image of two young boys which appeared on a book cover - but you have no way of knowing who they are, because they are not identified. You are using an image of UNIDENTIFIED children in your rebuttal. How does that work?

I’m sure you can use a lot less words if you try.

Fred, this idea that everyone in the world gets all their info from Dreams is absurd. The writers of the two Nairobi articles didn’t need or use Dreams for the Kenyan side of their piece. No doubt they used it for the HI bit, but fortunately that bit was small and nonessential. All the vital info is in the Kenyan part. And no, it didn’t use Dreams because the info in it was not in Dreams, not even close.

your Daily Nation link leads all the way to Sally Jacobs book and the rest of it is straight out of the myth of ‘Dreams’. You can’t get away with making it sound as if a Kenya website has confirmed anything, when they ATTRIBUTE what they write to a SOURCE. Are you conscious?

The playing field has shifted. And all for the better. You are fighting yesterdays battles, Fred. Can’t say I blame you, but times have changed. The largest and second largest newspapers in Kenya have weighed in, and w info found nowhere in Dreams. Face it, the writers & editors there kow things you don’t.

Or are you now claiming to know more about doings in Nairobi than the writers and editors at both The Daily Nation and The Standard combined?

Apparently in your mind Dreams has become a 1,000 p treatise on Nairobi from the early sixties through 1982.

Except in reality...it’s not.

‘Obama flew to the U.S. not as part of a larger student airlift, as is generally believed, but only because Mooney mentored his admission to the University of Hawaii and persuaded fellow literacy advocate Frank Laubach to help defray Obama’s expenses. This significant discovery is just one of many notable revelations in Sally Jacobs’s “The Other Barack,” but the cumulative effect of her thoroughly researched biography is deeply depressing. Jacobs, a reporter for the Boston Globe, has far outstretched all previous journalists in unearthing an impressive array of new information about Obama’s life, but her richly sourced account of how a promising young adulthood quickly descended into daily alcoholic binges and serial domestic violence paints an even more dramatically downbeat portrait than did Obama’s namesake son 16 years ago in “Dreams From My Father.” Indeed, although “The Other Barack” greatly enriches our knowledge of the elder Obama’s life, it is such a painfully disheartening narrative that some interested readers — and certainly one in particular — should avoid Jacobs’s tragic account.’
