>>What we have to suffer through because of OBlameothers, will set Liberals back another generation, just as Carter did after his attack on our country.

I appreciate your optimism, but you are wrong. Obama/Pelosi/Reid along with the media and Big Education have turned this country into a nation of beggars. Not the passive panhandler types, but the ones who demand what they think they are owed. And I’m not talking about only the welfare class. The banks and corporations are aggressive beggars too.

There is no new Reagan because the wealthy don’t want to sacrifice any of their wealth or power and the poor don’t want to give up a single entitlement or their ability to scream “victim”. The middle class is ceasing to exist thanks to the other two groups, so you can’t count on them for anything, except for the very real fear of being taxed into poverty or being downsized into poverty.

America is a drug addict. It has to hit rock-bottom before any progress can be made. We aren’t even close yet.

“That’s a hard question for me to answer with complete candor,” said Carter...

And, of course, I never, ever, answer a question with complete candor.

Barry doesn’t take advice from anyone. He takes orders from his Marxist puppet masters.

Obama certainly won’t be getting any calls for advice, afterwards, either!

It’s time for Carter to go among all those quiet previous Presidents.

GASP! Do you know who you are calling ...

OK, I understand, your pissed, and deservedly so, not to mention it's justifiable.. But I have lived through WWII, savaging for tires, gas, foodstamp books, and newspapers stuffed in shoes.. Lets not forget LBJ, rioting, protests, and burning cities, and the 60's!

How about Carter, 24% interest rates, 15% unemployment, and double digit inflation, and the lines at the gas stations, rationing, and Nightline and the countdown, yeah, yeah, yeah.. I didn't believe we would ever recover then, and why should I, the evidence was glaring from the TV tube, every day? As for Reagan, I agree he was on-of-a-kind, so we need a different kind this time, to achieve another level of recovery, and we will find one..

Perhaps he, or she, is hiding in plain sight, or in some State Legislature, or Corporate boardroom, who knows? My eyesight may be failing with age, but my memory is spot-on, and my faith in this Nation is unwavering.. I know we will look back on this in the future, as decide, whew,, that was close, but we did it.. LOL

I’m not pissed. I’m realistic. Those times you mention were different times and different people. America was a different place. Good people were the majority then. The people on the fringe were just that...on the fringe. We didn’t take their demands seriously. If you had a bum in your neighborhood, you helped him until he proved that he didn’t want to improve his lot in life and then you “helped” him move on. If people needed to sacrifice, they did because it was for the greater good.

But, today the fringe groups control the country. In fact, if you aren’t in a fringe group, you are unrepresented in Congress. The bums have become a cultural treasure, if you listen to the media and politicians. When people call for sacrifice today, they mean YOU sacrificing to give to THEM. And if you don’t, there’s a government man with a gun standing by to help you do your “civic duty”.

You lived through WW2. Well, then you recognize what America has become. We are the enemy of WW2 America. This country will not back off from it’s single-minded mission to destroy itself and no single politician is going to stop that.

In fact, a charismatic politician who rises up from nowhere to lead us to “greatness” is more likely to come from the Left than the Right because the conditions are in place for the mobs to support a Mussolini figure. Obama is proof that they’ll follow anyone who promises them free stuff. Imagine how an Obama who isn’t an idiot would do?

Obama isn’t the problem...The problem is the electorate that voted for him twice.

Exactly! He’s just the symptom of the cancer that is rotting our nation from the inside.

Old Timer—

You give me a glimmer of hope, but I just don’t see it. I am old enough to remember when decent Democrats could be found outside of Appalachia—you’re old enough to remember when most Democrats were better than most of today’s Republicans. In Reagan’s time there was still some decent material to work with.

Most people today are so spoiled and have no clue about how tough most people have had it and the sacrifice that it takes to make a family work and move forward without a safety net funded by borrowing from future generations. The bottom that it will take to wake them up and call them on is a bottom that I don’t think our present society as a whole can survive.

I knew a fair number from the greatest generation, and remember well a great-grandfather born in 1892 who had lived through a lot. I’m married to a generation Xer nearly a decade younger than I am, and have five kids who are fairly good eggs—I hope when the time comes they will all have what it takes, but they really have no concept of what that will be, and most of their contemporaries give me no grounds for hope. I think that I’ve picked fairly well in terms of where to ride out the coming storm, but I think many areas are headed for a future that looks a lot like Detroit.

Stay the course, my dear FRiend, we haven’t seen the worse yet.. The bottom will test my prognosis, that when the chips fall they will wake the sleeping giant.. I’m not quite Father Time yet, but rather Father Time Out, and Breathe.. LOL

We’ll see soon enough, because we will be tested in a big way soon.. Actually, the sooner the better, to stop the bleeding.. I’ll bet you a dollar, we rally when the time comes.. Trust me, I’m only wrong in matters of the heart.. Ha!

I'd call the Carter Center, get their opinion on a problem, so I know right away what not to do!

If Obama called Carter, Obama would be even a more lousy president. Obama calls the Castro brothers,, Putin, and Kim Jung UN along with Robert Mugabe for advice.

That depends you your definition of “we”. If you mean working class people, then I agree with you. If you mean “we” as all Americans, including the looter class consisting of the welfare recipients, over-educated baristas, “educators”, stock traders, lawyers, and bankers (which makes up more than 50% of the electorate today), then “we” are getting exactly what “we” are asking for. The looters won’t rally until the free stuff stops flowing and then they’ll turn their anger on the working class long before they turn on the government.
