Heh, they speak, Paulista, Carioca and Bahiana in my experience. Very pronounced differences in accents, you can immediately tell the region unless it’s the interior, but then I didnt date anyone from the interior so I can’t speak for their accents.

Generally, the further South the more the Portuguese took on the linguistic characteristics of Spanish. Saudade for example, Saow-dah-zgee in the North became Saow-dah-dee in the South.

Carnaval was amazing. The Olympics will be the same with a lot more crime. Fun times, interesting mix of personalities. A lot of mistakes I’d happily repeat again if I was younger - lol!

Example of a fun mistake: piano bars in Rio. They don’t always have pianos. My mistake, but pretty hilarious and the extended story is fun to tell over a few beers.
