Ukrainian border guards closed the exit from the Republic of Crimea, local authorities said on Saturday.

The office of the Crimean Federal District, which was established by President Vladimir Putin on Friday, said that even Ukrainian servicemen who wanted to leave Crimea could not cross the border.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, only 2,000 out of 18,000 Ukrainian troops serving in Crimea decided to leave the peninsula.

Interesting development. Seems Ukraine doesn't even trust it's own troops that choose to stay loyal, now.

“Consider the source...”

Why would the source matter? Either the boarder was closed or it was not...

A Boarder is a person who rents a room in a home as in room and board,
A Border is what is alleged between us and Canada/NewMexico, TX,AZ, CA.or Canada…

Sorry/rant off

If it comes from a Russian source do you automatically accept it as fact? Given the ongoing Russian disinformation program, it’s likely questionable.

The question isn’t trust as much as security. The Russians have tried to move off the peninsula. They have a bit of a problem since Ukraine supplies all of the utilities to the Crimea. Closing the border should have been done before this. If Russia say Ukraine won’t accept Ukrainians from the Crimea, I’d be more than a little skeptical until it was verified by non-Russian sources.

Maybe something got lost in translation, such things do happen, and Russia just closed (that is locked up) gay boarders!

From a "pro-revolution" source in Ukraine:

Putin know that West won't impose any economy sanctions because they will hurt all parts. Putin perfectly aware that Obama and Merkel just corporate puppets, their mission is to protect markets with profit and so they won't really do anything that will hurt global economy. In this way whe worse that could happen to Russia has already happened. Now Russians can go ahead.

When someone ask me how far Putin will go in occupying Ukraine, I tell as far as we'll allow him to go. So far they met no resistance. Crimea was easy trophy because Ukrainians do not see Crimea as historic territories of Ukraine, they wouldn't die for Crimea. 22.000 Ukrainian military men in Crimea are mostly etnic Russians who live there with families. They mingle with Russians from Putins army. Many of them will stay in Crimea, some giving up now. Kiev understand that we can not count on them, that's why our president do not give command for army to retreat. I believe our government loosing them intentionally, kind of getting rid of this army.

"kiddofspeed" veracity has been questioned in the past, but in this instance the thinking of the average non-Russian Ukrainian (and the gov't) is probably not too far off.

Also interesting is how close Putin is to Iran and its nuclear program. You should check out that area of Putinism. He’s not just going to harass his weak neighbors. He’s going to help get Iran a nuke.

To say that the border was closed to keep Ukrainian citizens out of the Ukraine is not accurate. The Ukraine is closing it’s border with Russia. Russia wanted an island then give them an island.

And a “but” is a conjunction, and a “nut” is a noun.

Anyone leaving Crimea will have to pass a Russian check point first.

Ukrainian media are reporting that it’s the Crimeans who are stopping the people from leaving Crimea.
