OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Despair and decline seem to be the chosen path for now, at least until 2017. There are a number of policies now in place, that regardless of their clumsy and erratic application, are unlikely to be terminated before then, and possibly not for some time later on.

Cramp all industrial expansion, through regulation and taxation.

Retreat from economic and diplomatic confrontations everywhere in the world.

Distract the public with specious and meaningless speculations on “green” energy alternatives, that shall never be competitive, or even achieve a minimal level of reliability.

Lie. Try to convince the portion of the voters that lack even the rudiments of critical thinking that it is a) not the fault of the current regime, and b) those people who say otherwise are really the liars themselves, and cannot be counted upon to ever come to the official version of “truth”.

I normally would not note this since it is so common for everyone (except people who actually studied English) to not understand that the possessive pronoun is spelled "its" but his writer takes it to a new level:

it’s new Prime Minister Tony Abbott. It wasn’t sufficient that in 2013 Australia was already a global leader in iron ore and timber production and that its’ government...

At first he writes "it's" (incorrect) then proceeds to "its' " (also incorrect and that is not even a word one would find in a dictionary).

Please see my tagline.

I’m of the opinion that, when it finally comes down to respecting the environment and surviving, a good number of the American people miiiiight snap back to sanity, but that’s a very big miiiiight.

Looking at all the candles in the above photo, my first thought is: Why can’t the protesters find a carbon-neutral way to express their displeasure? Isn’t burning less fuel the reason why they are against the pipeline in the first place?
