Obamacare: Asian-Americans sign up in droves; Latinos disproportionately stay away

You've heard about the achievement gap, the wide disparity in educational performance between disadvantaged minorities and the rest of the student population.

Now comes the insurance gap, and in California it's playing out most notably in the number of Latinos and Asian-Americans signing up for private health plans under the Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare.

Of the nearly 700,000 people who enrolled in a health plan as of Feb. 28 through the Covered California health insurance exchange and identified their ethnicity, 23.1 percent were Asian or Pacific Islander. Twenty-two percent were Latino.

I can’t handle much of my wife’s Indian cooking due to GERD problems. But some things, like chicken mildly spices, rice, and Naan bread I really like.

That’s possible but I know that in my state, Washington, immigration status is checked for both exchange policies and Medicaid.

But what if they enroll in Obamacare thru healthcare.gov?

The state wouldn't have anything to say about it, would they?

There are subsidies even for middle class yes? Even if the govt. chips in 5 bucks its a subsidy. Not judging it just stating a computer will spit out two columns in this case. One with nothing back from the govt and one with anything back regardless of percentage. A person or family getting back 2% would be the same as one getting back 82%.

In Asia you can buy books explaining how to exploit America’s government services.

Lesko's works have been translated into English as well:

If you're a citizen of the USA, you're an American. This country was founded as a melting pot of all nationalities, and where your ancestors were born should only be of concern to you and your family. In this country, citizens are known as Americans. Separatists who don't want to assimilate with the rest of this country, like African Americans, who refuse to refer to themselves as Americans, but instead must remind you that they are AFRICAN Americans, are an example of folks who buck the system ‘cause THEY want to. When my grandparents emigrated to this country in 1896 and 1899, they couldn't’ wait to become citizens of the USA. My grandfather readily learned English, as did all the other emigrants coming into this country, because they wanted to be Americanized, and they were proud to go to school to learn English, or from their children who first learned the English language at school. Thanks to socialist obozo, who hates all that America stands for, has destroyed that pride, and divided this country. we must get rid of this guy and his ilk, and return this country for which it stands, one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for us. No one and no country is perfect, but I love this country, warts and all. May God bless America.
