Colin Chisholm III and his wife Andrea, who received over $165,000 in public assistance from the state of Minnesota between 2005 and 2012 while living on a yacht in Florida, have been charged with fraud, and a manhunt is underway to find them.

The charges against Colin Chisholm were filed in February but not made public because police had been searching for the Chisholms. His wife was only charged last Tuesday. Chuck Laszewski, a spokesman for prosecutor Mike Freeman, said Friday, "They know by now we are looking for them."

I’d look somewhere near water.

An 83-foot yacht? Isn't that almost exactly the length of the supposed "debris" that keeps turning up on the satellite images in the Indian Ocean?

Hmmm....

When she sold puppies, she was most likely paid in cash.

He had sold a business. However, he must have had interest income if they had $2.6 million in the bank. They were not receiving a W2 from any company. Therefore, they probably did not have any traceable income.

You do not have to be a drug dealer to have ALL cash income.
Some people deal in collectables that when you sell them, they do not generate a 1099 form. There are many people who scam off the rich(the top 1%). They sell art work, many of which are fakes, that do not report the income. In the movie “American Hustle” this was one of the ways the main character made money.

I suspect they just learned how to scam the system.

The whole system is a scam that needs to be shut down, just like most other government transfer payment systems.

Exactly. I suspect there is not too much oversight in Social Security either. Countless sums of money are being automatically deposited in the accounts of now deceased people for the spending pleasure of their dishonest relatives.

Andrea Chisholm, 54, and Colin Chisholm III, 62, left Minnesota to soak up the Florida sun and the state government's services for the poor.

That boat looks like a money pit. Too much wood to maintain.
