No hope of going to Charter Schools anymore. What hope do they have?

Let me see, so, a value-less education, promotion of immorality and a materialist mindset does have consequences?

Were these suicides in school? during school hours?

Perhaps the headline would be more accurate to say that New York City has had 7 suicides in 11 Weeks.

I spoke with a child psychologist about child suicide which was his specialty. He said they make bad decisions and have no idea what the outcome of their actions might be. They do things that are fashionable and suicide is sometimes in their music or lauded by their Facebook friends. They want attention and don’t know there’s no step back from the action they’ve taken, like dangling from a cord around their neck for the thrill but then they pass out before they can stand up again to relieve the pressure.

A cop once told me a boy aimed a gun at him and he finally talked him into putting it down instead of killing him. When he tried to talk to the boy afterwards he said, “I almost shot you.” And the boy kept responding with, “Well, yeah, if you’d one that then I’d have done xxx.” He couldn’t convince the boy that there would be nothing to do after that shot hit.

I asked the cop why he didn’t fire and he said the kid was limply tossing the gun this way and that without actually two-fisting it and he thought he had a chance to talk him out of it so he did. That was about 20 years ago. Those cops are all retired and replaced with the shoot-first types.

Anecdotal perhaps, but still . . .

the real problem is in thinking that “public schools” ought to be the first and primary focus of solving ALL SOCIAL ISSUES involving children;

thinking they SHOULD BE has not solved ANY social issues with teens, EVER, and it only results in public/government laws and policies which project greater government intrusion, interference and “school curriculum mandates” for more “social” education and social engineering in and by public schools

Yeah, especially now that they're getting Common Core pounded into their heads full of mush.

WARNING: These kids will be running the country in 30-40 years. Glad I'll be gone by then.

I'm sure she'll get over it in a few minutes; it's probably just heartburn from lunch. She gets paid over $400,000 a year and has a car and driver at her disposal.

Just sayin'.

Tell a kid he’s an evolved animal, that nothing is really true, and that the point to life is to eat, sleep, work, die. Tell him that government is his god. Then be amazed when he takes that philosophy to its logical end.

All government involvement in education should be abolished. Education should truly be a service like all the others.

There is a ton of substance in what you wrote. A ton. Take away meaning and the possibilities of life, and you wind up with demoralization, and demoralization is worse than depression.

Whatever the cause(s), this is a tragedy and a terrible waste of young lives.

Maybe because the children are taught that life has no meaning and that they are just quivering blobs of protoplasm who can be killed at the whim of their mother.

Problem is that the story doesn’t tell us what the average rate is for any other period of time. So how does one know if this is even an increase from “normal”?

Immorality is pushed on students beginning in elementary school. Most have no religious basis for living. I would guess some were involved with drugs and sex, perhaps homosexuality, and perhaps parent(s) uninvolved in their lives. And seeing what goes on around them and not seeing any hope in the future has caused depression. I would think some are asking themselves “what is there to live for” and getting the answer “nothing”.

We have done a terrible disservice to children by removing God from all aspects of life.

Might as well teach kids how to safely do this since you can't stop them. That's the permissive liberal mindset. In other nations, they are even seeking euthanasia for mere depression.
