All the Wrong Moves in Crimea
israelnationalnews ^ | March 24, 2014 | Avi Perry

The present crisis in relations between Russia and the US is an unnecessary development borne out of erroneous moves by both sides to the latest conflict. The Crimean annexation by Russia should have been regarded as a win-win-win-win by all (Crimea, Ukraine, Russia, and US respectively) had the leaders of all countries-involved been thinking out of the box.

But they have not. They have been bathing in cold-war hostility, and have seemed to enjoy the feeling and the euphoric enthusiasm that accusations, filled with hate-speech and hostile actions, are capable of generating.

Anybody who describes a sovereign nation getting its land annexed, is an idiot.

Perhaps, he wishes to give Jerusalem to the Palis, as well lol.

In the word of reality and cause and effect, the coup by the Orange Revolutionists provoked the Crimeans to call Mother Russia.....Not the other way around no matter how you look at it.

Democratic elections in the Ukraine were only a few months away. The Revolutionists just couldn't take the chance on losing again.

There was no coup in the Ukraine.

The former president was legally removed by Parliament.

If the Ukrainians waited a few more months Ukraine might already be a Russian puppet state.

If the Russians in the Crimea were so confident in winning the next elections the would not have bolted.

That would be a legitimate point, except that Ukraine, which was cobbled together out of two distinctly different groups of people, was hardly a “sovereign nation” in any sense. A “sovereign nation” with an unstable government isn’t much of a sovereign nation at all.

Oh really.
I guess Canada isn’t a sovereign nation either then.
maybe the US should invade and liberate Toronto.
Some Boy Scouts should do the trick nicely.

You won’t get an argument from me on that one. Canada barely qualifies as a “nation” in any sense of the term. It’s a loose confederation of quasi-independent provinces that probably functions a lot like the U.S. would be today if the Confederate states had won the Civil War. Nobody on the global stage would shed a tear if Quebec decided tomorrow that it wants to secede from the rest of Canada. I know a lot of other Canadians who’d be willing to pay them just to leave!

You do realize the USA bombed the hell out of Serbia to force them to give up their province of Kosovo right?

What’s your opinion on the sovereign territory of Serbia in that case?

this moron is an apologist for Russian aggression

If Crimea had voted to annex itself to Russia in the absence of an invasion, maybe.

But Ukraine was invaded

I think the Serbians should have thought long and hard before they lined people up by the thousands and slaughtered them, burying them in trenches to hide the evidence.

Doing that in the age of satellite imagery was pretty stupid.
