, Mississippi – U.S. Senator Thad Cochran has announced that he has been endorsed for reelection by the National Rifle Association (NRA).

“The Second Amendment is a pillar of freedom upon which our great nation was built,” Senator Cochran said. “My pledge to the people of Mississippi is to continue supporting our gun rights, and to keep fighting any efforts that infringe on our Constitutional right to bear arms. I am honored by the support of the National Rifle Association and I appreciate their support of my campaign.”

Chris Cox, Chairman of the NRA, cited Cochran’s “A+” rating from the organization, stating that highest rating is, “Reserved for legislators not only with an excellent voting record on all critical NRA issues, but who has also made a vigorous effort to promote and defend the Second Amendment.”

Cox also noted Senator Cochran’s seniority and influence on the Appropriations Committee as a valuable tool in the fight against the Obama Administration’s gun control agenda:

“You prevented taxpayer funds from being used for gun control and anti-gun studies, while also cutting red tape for law abiding gun owners adversely impacted by arbitrary policies put in place by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms,” said Cox.

We've got dueling groups all over the place this year. The NRSC vs the Senate Conservatives Fund, the GOA vs. the NRA, etc.

This NRA member will support McDaniel. A few years ago the NRA got chummy with Harry Ried.

“A few years ago the NRA got chummy with Harry Ried.”

Yes I remember that. I never trusted them after that.

Oh give me a break...The NRA is not a Gop-e group...Good grief, if anyone disagrees with anything—policy, stratgey, tactics, candidate...some freepers go straight to the RINO card...ya’ll play the rino card as much as some liberals play the race card and its getting old....

IMHO, the NRA should never make endorsements, but only provide objective “scorecards” accompanied by a gentle reminder to the membership to do due diligence like their next firearms purchase depended on it.

As a rule, the NRA will support any pro-gun incumbent, regardless of thier views on ANY other subject.
As long as Harry Reid didn't push anti-gun legislation, the NRA would support him over ANYONE.
The NRA is successful because they are strictly a one-issue group, whereas most of us weigh many different things when looking at candidates.

The NRA is VERY good at that one thing - bringing a lot of weight to the 2nd Amendment fight. Period.

A few years ago GOA had Fred Thompson listed as an anti-gun RINO too.

At times they wander off into nutball territory.

I think you need to calm down a bit. Tulane disagreed with you (rightly I think) and you respond with a personal attack?

“As long as Harry Reid didn’t push anti-gun legislation, the NRA would support him over ANYONE.”

Then they are total fools and should not be paid attention to in any case. Anybody with a brain could see what would happen. Then NRA helped Reid get reelected, then he pushed anti-gun legislation.

JimRob wouldn’t endorse an anti-gun RINO.

You’re wandering off into nutball land too.

The NRA is VERY good at that one thing.

The NRA is also very good at sending out renewal notices to its members claiming that "your membership is about to expire" even though it damn well knows that there is still a year or two left on the membership cycle.

I quit the NRA some years ago over their endorsement of Congress Ragen here in Wisconsin. That was the biggest idiot in government, that is before Oblabba.

Did that legislation pass?

I don’t always agree with the NRA’s endorsements...see Reid and Manchin...but give them credit, in terms of denfending the second amendment, they are extremely successful...After that catastrophe in Connecticut, the Democratic gun grabbers still couldn’t get gun control legislation passed the Democratic Senate...that’s pretty good work imho...
