I shudder to think about all that new equipment those stores got a year and change back. I had a front line seat at that disaster.
‘Rat reduction?
I hope my nearest Walgreens is one that will close. Horribly run store, pharmacist was frequently the only person in the pharmacy, long waits for the simplest purchase. Pharmacists that could barely speak English. My last time there I complied to store manager he just shrugged his shoulders and walked off.
But oddly, a new Walgreen’s store will open up a block down from each closed store. ;’)
This is why we need to raise the minimum wage. /Marx
I hope mine doesn’t close. First our Thrift Drugs became Revco ? or something, then closed. It has been empty for the entire Obama Depression. Walgreens opened nearby. I HOPE it doesn’t close, as it is a pain to get a new drug store to do everything right. Took months before my and my mom’s RX were in order everytime we came in.
If they close the one just up the road, I will NEVER shop there again!
I hope they don’t close the store where I do my regular profit adjusting shoplifting.
Probably losing money from holding up checkout lines with “reward card” members, and handing out 3 foot long receipts to everyone.
I wonder how much money is made off of “drugs”. With express scripts and all the other mail order programs, I’ve been expecting a bunch of closings. Many of them are glorified convenience stores. And when they stop selling cigarettes, they might as well close the doors. I don’t smoke, by the way.
(My observations)Meanwhile they are building a Walgreens across the street from a Rite Aid on Broadway Bayonne. Another Walgreens is a few blocks away JFK BLVD in Jersey City. Walgreens & Rite Aid across the street from each other in Little Egg Harbor
EPA again, ya know...they just wasn’t green enough ... something to do with the spotted titmouse getting high on the drugs in their dumpster ... /s
They’ve been expanding like crazy in my county.
Reminds me of the Grant’s department stores in the 1970’s.
Those who fail to learn from the past....
MY WALGREENS IS JUST ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY HOUSE! IF THEY CLOSE MY WALGREENS, I WILL SURELY DIE!
If they close, that would send me several miles away to another one. Damn, don't close my Walgreens. Hope, hope, hope, hope.
They opened a new store in my home town only a few years ago. I have noticed their prices are very high except for sales which are sometimes pretty good.
I have now forgotten why but I am boycotting them for one of their political decisions. I really can’t remember but I can distinctly recall saying I would never shop there again and I haven’t.
If they aren’t ready to tell us WHICH STORES ARE CLOSING, they shouldn’t bother with the story.
When Rite-Aid closed some stores they even closed some buildings built but never occupied. Specialty Sports & Supply, one of the largest gun shops in the country, now occupies one of those buildings.
There are three Walgreens within five minutes of my house. I wonder if any are on the list.
More of those alleged “green shoots” of “recovery”. . .
Walgreens came into the small town I live in about 2 years ago. We already had a WalMart, A RiteAid, and a small local pharmacy. They schmoozed the owner of some prime real estate where a popular diner had been for 60 years. The owner caved and leased the property and the diner was torn down. Walgreens went up and I swear, there is never more than 1 or 2 cars in that parking lot at any time on any day. I’m guessing this one will close.
