Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage are set to debate the UK's place in the European Union live on radio. The deputy PM, who says his Liberal Democrats are the "party of in", challenged the UKIP leader, who wants the UK to leave the EU, to a debate in the run-up to the European elections. Mr Clegg argues that even threatening to leave the EU threatens British jobs. Mr Farage believes EU membership is "the most important issue this country has faced for hundreds of years". Following negotiations between the two party leaders and broadcasters, two one-hour debates have been arranged. The first is being broadcast by LBC radio from 19:00 GMT. On 2 April, round two will be televised live at the same time on BBC Two.

at 7pm UK time so that's 2pm EST.
Next week there will be a televised debate on the BBC.
Nick Clegg for those that don't know if the Deputy PM, leader of the Liberal Democrat Party that is in coalition with our phoney Conservative Party.
If you have ever watched Nigel in action you will know that Clegg is about to take an absolute pasting. (and Clegg is widely believed to have won all of the televised debates we had before the last general election).
It is in preparation for the European elections which UKIP are viewed as likely
Very much looking forward ot it!
There can be a fine line between brave and stupid. Mr. Clegg may be crossing that line in challenging Mr. Farage to an open debate about the “benefits” to Britain of the EU and open immigration. In fact, he should make sure and have some kind of adequate size container placed near the podium in which to place his arse after it is handed to him.
UKIP is the only path to restoring England. I just hope the Britons get it.
What is essential here is the format the debate will take. If there is anyone who amounts to a speaking moderator, they will undoubtedly be unabashedly for the leftist, as they are in the US.
However, if they use Oxford rules, Farage will tear him apart limb by limb. There are a bunch of his speeches at the European Parliament on YouTube, and he runs circles around those people.
An oddity of Oxford rules is that before the debate begins, the audience votes for whichever position they support. Then after the debate, they vote again. This really demonstrates the effectiveness, persuasiveness of debaters.
Thanks UKrepublican. Euroskepticism is growing in some places, but in continental Europe the belief is the left is going to grab more seats in the EU body.
I cannot wait to watch Nigel Farage in a debate. I would hate to be the other guy!
