Sarah Palin endorses Joni Ernst for U.S. Senate (Iowa - Harkin's open seat)
The Iowa Republican ^ | 03/26/14 | Kevin Hall

One day after her “Squeal” TV brought her national attention, Joni Ernst picks up the endorsement of Sarah Palin. The former Alaska governor, 2008 vice-presidential nominee and conservative firebrand calls Ernst a “champion for life, small government, and lower taxes.”

Here is what Palin had to say when announcing her support for Joni Ernst in Iowa’s U.S. Senate race:

“If Nebraska’s Deb Fischer can see through the bull in Washington, then Iowa’s Joni Ernst can help her cut through the pork. Growing up on a hog farm in Southwest Iowa, Joni has taken her “pork cutting” skills to the Iowa State Senate where she has been a champion for life, small government, and lower taxes – voting for the largest tax cut in Iowa history. In Washington, she has pledged to defund Obamacare, limit the size of government, and protect life. As a concealed weapon license holder, she will fight to defend our Second Amendment rights – the NRA has given her an “A” rating.

Joni is a veteran of the Iraq war and continues her service as a Lt. Colonel in the Iowa Army National Guard. She’s been a fighter for freedom both in and out of uniform. Iowa – come together and send this Midwest Mama Grizzly roaring to Washington on her Harley so she can join with the good guys to get our country back on track!

Any question about the type of Senator Joni will be? Check out her first ad – she makes it pretty clear:

“I’m proud to stand with the Mama Grizzly against big spenders in Washington like Bruce Braley and Nancy Pelosi. Sarah Palin is an inspiration to those of us who want to protect life, defend the Second Amendment, and get Washington out of our wallets. As our campaign builds energy toward a primary win in June, Sarah Palin’s roaring support will help me to victory, and as a result, make ‘em squeal in Washington,” said Ernst.

I’m saying Creston/Red Oak/Osceola area, somewhere around there.

And he endorsed her back, which is strange giving how conservative she’s running. Makes me wonder if they are personal friends.

I just knew that Sarah Palin was going to endorse Joni Ernst who is a NATURAL BORN MAMA GRIZZLY. She’s not going to go “squishy” on us when she gets to the Senate.

South Carolina? Are you sure you’re not just flyover country between NY and FL?

;-)

I am dubious about Ernst’ and Clovis’ electability. I like Whittaker. Jacobs is the best financed. I don’t believe the nonsense about Jacobs being a lib, but he also doesn’t seem much of a social conservative.

You be right; living on the Atlantic Coast does not make one an East Coaster. I sit corrected.

In fact, my wife and I are both from up north and were surprised to find ourselves living here, surrounded by more like-minded folks than from where we came.

[ I saw Joni’s commercial last night on Red Eye this woman is AWESOME!!! I know some were making fun of her campaign commercial but I thought it was brilliant ]

I think the “Old Bulls in the senate” need to be careful because if she gets in they could turn into the “Old Steers”.

I’m from New England and many New Englanders are much more comfortable in the Carolinas than in Florida—where the New Yorkers of course flock.

We're not from THAT far up north; we're from Asheville.

That’s ‘up north’? Ha!

I suppose Asheville can be a bit precious in an up north sort of way.

Sorry, but a RINO would NOT be an improvement, it would be much worse! We cannot elect more “Republicans” who will vote just like Democrats. We need people who are willing to fight, not go along to get along. That's why we're in the mess we're in now.

DANGER . . . DANGER . . . She’s been endorsed by Mitt Romney.

From ConservativeHQ: Ernst is a typical creature of state house and county court house politics who is perfectly happy to see spending and taxes go up and freedom erode as long as taxpayers don’t fight back. This is exactly t.he problem conservatives see with the present attitude of the establishment Republicans on Capitol Hill, and especially in the US Senate, and it won’t be fixed by handing Iowa’s Republican Senate nomination to a big government professional politician like Joni Ernst

Can anyone explain someone endorsing more than one candidate? This doesn’t make any sense to me.

I tend to agree about Ernst. She isn’t strong in opposition to amnesty and open borders, and that’s a deal breaker. ‘Conservatives’ who favor amnesty know they’ll never have to deliver on conservative promises as millions of new Democrat voters will reduce conservatives to an even smaller minority.

She is, however, a very attractive candidate and person and she certainly seems electable. I’d guess it will come down to her and self-financed Mark Jacobs.

Erst is probably the horse to back. She has almost 3 times as much money as Clovis (she’s 2nd behind Jacobs). And that was before this endorsement.

No RINO could be worse than Harkin. He is a total leftist tool, and totally corrupt.

Rasmussen Poll

Braley leads Ernst and Jacobs by 3 points apiece, Whitaker by 4 points, and Clovis by 13 points. 54% of likely voters in the sample disapprove of Obama.

Palin also endorsed a female State Senator in neighboring Minnesota, Julianne Ortman, to run against Frankenstein.

I think that’s the right call also.

The best funded Republican is rich guy Mike McFadden, a RINO, or so it would seem. Freepers say bad things about him. It appears he’s one of those candidates that tries to be as vague as possible in his positions.

He’s been endorsed by Norm Coleman, Rudy Boschwitz, Vin Weber, and Rob Grams (before he died). I think Ortman is his main competition.

That race should be on the radar. Franken’s numbers are crap even against these second and third tier candidates.

Last poll by SurveyUSA in early March has Franken leading Ortman by 8%, McFadden by 10%, Chris Dahlberg by 8%, and Paubot Jim Abeler by 12%.

Unfortunately, a female Paulbot will have the Independence Party nomination.
