A staffer assigned to quell violence at a Philadelphia high school was knocked unconscious in what one union official called the worst assault since a Germantown High School teacher's neck was broken in 2007 by a student.
Alphonso Stevens, known as a conflict-resolution specialist, suffered a fractured skull, concussion, and other injuries.
The incident happened Friday when students were changing classes at Bartram High School. A 17-year-old student got into a verbal exchange with Stevens then grabbed him by the arm "and pushed him into the wall," said Raven Hill, a district spokeswoman.
Stevens fell to the floor, unconscious. He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for treatment and is now recovering at home.
Jerry Jordan, president of the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers, said the attack on Stevens was "the worst injury" he has seen since a student punched Frank Burd in the face several times in 2007, causing him to fall and break his neck.

The schools in Philly are really zoos, where the kids are basically housed for a few hours a day. There is no book learning going on. Teachers do not last long if at all.
They are a miserble failure, a product of decades of Democrat corruption, incompetence and malfeasance.

My mother graduated from Bartram in 1946, married my father the next year. I suspect the school has changed somewhat since her day.
One of my HS principals was about 6-6 and 240# and had played Div1 college basketball way back in the day. I’m pretty sure he could have resolved a conflict if need be, but probably not in a way acceptable to a modern Conflict Resolution Specialist.

Our shop teacher was in charge of the paddle. He was an offensive lineman for the Miami Dolphins before he blew out a knee before his rookie year.

All the while, the conflict resolution specialist was heard to be encouraging the student, "Use your words! Use your words!"

Well “punish everyone whether guilty or innocent” is not a conservative ideal either.
My Junior High metal shop teacher had a different method to command attention, his key ring weighed an easy two pounds and if you were being an ass and causing trouble or damage you would find that key missile directed right at you, he had deadly accurate aim and never quite hit any ones head, but no one wanted to give him a second chance. And you know what? We all survived with out running home and crying to mommy.
We had conflict resolution specialist. He was also known as the Assistant Principle, had no neck, and his nickname was “Cactus.”
I'm a little confused by your comment, where did that come from? Not from me, I clearly spoke to weeding out some of the vermin but don't recall anything about the innocent. And this schools situation is not about liberal or Conservative, it is about survival no matter how jocular our replies.

Does that mean everyone involved got paddled? No matter if they were perpetrator or victim?
Sure sounds like it. There ARE adults with that kind of child raising attitude.
When I went to school if you got paddled you damn well deserved it, not for being a victim. We need to get our all our kids back into the real world and out of the fantasy that they can say and do whatever they want because, well they're kids and there is not really anything going to be done of consequence.

I have no desire for authority and am only speaking to my experience in school and what I have observed through my children’s school years and what I now observe with my grandson. Look we have different opinions, that’s OK, I have no desire to insult you and apologize if I have. Like many of us I have strong opinions and they sometimes hold sway over a reasoned response.
