During coverage of President's Obama meeting with Pope Francis on Thursday, both NBC's Today and CBS This Morning hoped the papal visit would boost the commander-in-chief's sinking poll numbers. Today co-host Matt Lauer wondered: "The Pope, enormously popular....Is there something in just rubbing elbows with the Pope for President Obama?" Chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd observed: "I think that the President, particularly right now where his own approval ratings are not so hot, just being seen with the Pope, particularly in some places where there are a lot of Catholic voters in the United States, it's not gonna hurt. "Who's the guy in the funny hat talking to Bubba?"
Yeah ... One of 'em is Pope Francis ... t'other? Dunno ... not much up on RC uniform recognition. But seriously ... they both have this "No, Barry ... we're not laughing with you. We're laughing AT you" look. Sort of like people watching monkeys caper about at the zoo.
NOBODY has any respect for that buffoon ... and it's pretty bad when even the Pope can't manage to pretend respect.
It seems like never. In the mornings, the spouse has the agitprop on. Local then national. When the national one runs, I generally say something along the lines of all hail the Kenyan during the open.
The MSM obviously sees Pope Francis as a celebrity and not as the leader of the RC Church, and a symbol of Christianity.
Obama may as well have gone to see Kim Kardashian as far as they are concerned.
"So, Jose, how're things goin' on my canonization ??"
Wow! They don’t even try to hide their bias anymore, do they?
Excellent observation.
