Ebola 'a regional threat' as contagion hits Guinea capital

Guinea's capital Conakry was on high alert on Friday after a deadly Ebola epidemic which has killed dozens in the southern forests was confirmed to have spread to the sprawling port city of two million people.

Eight cases have been confirmed in the capital, the Guinean health ministry said late Friday, including one fatality.

All those infected have been put into isolation at the capital's biggest hospital to avoid the highly contagious virus from getting into the population.

Well your “betters” Soros, Oprah, Bill Gates, and a bunch more of the “elites” met in Darvos a few years ago, and decided that overpopulation was the biggest problem on Earth.

They didn’t say what they were going to do about it. Maybe this is what they decided, just don’t quarantine existing high mortality diseases for which there is no vaccine or cure.

In today’s world, spread could be pretty rapid, if no precautions are taken.

Remember how much coverage SARS got. And how few deaths.

Does anyone know any more about the Canadian case?

It was not ebola.

Not so much, at least until it becomes airborne and/or easily spread by something like common animal fleas. BD had very similar virulence coupled with easy spread, after becoming entrenched in an area it would become pneumonic plague, which, IIRC, could be passed by airborne transmission.

Ebola may be mutating towards that, the earliest outbreaks were so ridiculously virulent that it essentially killed people faster than they could spread it around. In a nutshell 20-30% mortality Ebola would probably be WAY worse than 85-95% mortality Ebola.

Consider this, in a western nation a disease will probably only need to be widespread and have 1.5-3% (about 4.5 to 10 million people here in the U.S.) mortality to unravel a society. I say that because that is enough mortality to A) start to kill key people involved in social systems infrastructure and B) incite enough panic to keep other key people away from their necessary jobs/tasks.

Curiously the WHO tweeted earlier today that men who survived ebola may still spread it through sexual contact up to seven weeks after recovery. Once again a 90% mortality rate may be a blessing in disguise.

It was still some kind of hemorrhagic fever. I didn’t see any articles mention if he’s recovered or even still alive.

greeneyes:" I read on one of these threads the other day, that they have a confirmed case in Canada."

The last i heard it was in Saskatchewan ( Sp ? ) and they determined it was not Ebola.

If this does make it into the Muslim areas it will be devastating. Arab custom is that it is legal to have sex with a spouse up to twelve hours after the spouse is dead and Ebola is most infectious at that time.

As there are no good chain gangs, there are no good hemorrhagic viruses.

Keep in mind that the UN believes overpopulation is the greatest problem facing the earth. They’ve proposed reducing the population by 75%.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Just because they say it was “determined it was not Ebola”, no longer means it was not Ebola. You can’t tell the truth from the lies in the media anymore. If it was really Ebola, I would expect them to say that it wasn’t.
