Shumlin: 'Don't Quit' On Single Payer Before Work Begins (Vermont RATS are nervous)
VPR ^ | 3/27/14 | Bob Kinzel

**SNIP**

A number of Democrats are reluctant to commit to a single payer plan before there’s a comprehensive review of the $2 billion financing system that will be needed to pay for it. Some Democratic lawmakers worry that moving to a single payer health care system in several years could be a political liability. They also want to know the details of the benefit package that will be part of a single payer program.

When Senate President John Campbell raised concerns about the financing plan earlier this week, he said out loud what a number of Democrats are saying privately – that they need to develop an alternative to single payer in case that approach encounters problems.

“It demonstrates that that may not be something that would be politically viable in this legislative body due to the cost involved,” said Campbell. “I want to make sure that we have a place to go if this doesn’t work out, this single payer itself.”

Some lawmakers think the governor wants to avoid having the financing plan become an issue in his re-election campaign. He insists that’s not the reason for the delay.

It's all good - until they exempt themselves.

There should be LESS government in health care — not more.

I would love to see Vermonters get smart and go Republican this November. I knowthe Northeast Kingdom is usually Republican and so is some of the towns like Dover, Wilminton, and Killingly.

At last check, there hasn’t been a single speculative GOP candidate to go against Shumlin. The only opponents declared so far are from two drug legalization parties, the “Udder” Party and the “US Marijuana Party” (!)

The VT Lt Governor, Phil Scott, is Republican, but whether he’d run, I don’t know.

There is next to no info on this “Udder party”. One thing I found is they are “a horizontal (Meaning it has no real leadership?) political party created in honor of Fred Tuttle”.

Fred Tuttle was the elderly pro-Leahy diary farmer who defeated wealthy MA carpetbagger Jack McMullen in the 1998 GOP primary to face Leahy. During a debate he asked McMullen, “How many teats a Holstein got?” McMullen answered incorrectly and lost the respect of brainless hicks. After winning the primary, Tuttle endorsed Leahy, who crushed him 72%-22%.

They are aptly named for they are running a cow! ;)

Horrible website, but it sounds like she’s for tax reform at least. Her main thing besides vauge hippy sounding nonsense is hemp farming (”Emily is a non smoker. There’s more to cannabis than smoke.” Hemp Employs More People)

All I can say is, moo.

Yes, I remember the befuddled Tuttle. He didn’t even realize he was being used by those leftist moonbats filming him who were making a joke out of him. The moment he endorsed Leahy, he should’ve been removed from the ballot. Imagine if the shoe were on the other foot.

This is why the GOP need to advertise one of the better plans they have constructed.

We MUST champion replacing X with Y.

It is not sufficient to simply demand repeal, without presenting an alternative.

Those alternatives are comprehensive and have been presented in the past.
The key is to UNITE behind the alternative and promote the heck out of it.

Obviously, she’s nothing more than a protest candidate. If the GOP is stupid enough not to field a credible candidate, she’s the only alternative.

YES!

What’s the matter with you!?!?!?!?

Do you not PAY ATTENTION to the bills Republicans have put forward?!?!

Why would you even hint that I or anyone would propose something as STUPID as trying market Romneycare as a replacement for Obamcare?!?!?

All I hear from Republicans is we have to have a zerOcare lite. People like that their kids can stay on their insurance until 26, no they don't. People like that they can't be turned down, but, they are going to pay more for that.

That 26 thing is a distortion to people demanding jobs because there aren't any. I can understand a special needs child being on a parents plan, but, parents will have to sacrifice to keeps their children on their plans. Those plans will be funded by after tax dollars of the parents.

The only thing dumBOcare has solved, is it has killed a WWII benefit of wage and price controls. Health insurance has gone from a before tax business expense to an after tax personal expense. And, those taxes are going to pay for all the slackers in society. Why take a job when someone else in paying your expenses. I wish I had an EBT card so I could eat lobster.
