Yankee One Dollar Closing Remaining Stores Due to Obamacare

Citing Obamacare and an increase in the state’s minimum wage, the owner of Waterford-based Yankee One Dollar is closing down shop on all 23 remaining locations.

Via the Times Union:

Waterford-based Yankee One Dollar stores will be gone within the next five months, its owner told the Post Star of Glens Falls. Keith Flike blamed the Affordable Care Act and the increase in the state’s minimum wage for the decision to shut down. Each store has six to 10 employees, he told the Post Star.

Yankee One Dollar has 23 stores, down from a peak of 39. The Daily Gazette reported stores at Crosstown Plaza in Schenectady and at Rotterdam Square mall would close. Yankee One Dollar also has stores at Hudson Valley Plaza in Troy and in Waterford.

Remember the MSM declares that the recession is over, unemployment is down, job hires are up, and the sun rises in the West every morning because of messiah saint Obama!

Per the progressive manifesto: Yankee dollar and all other under funded businesses should shut down if they can't conform to the social equality mandates of free health care and 10.10 minimum wage. The federal govt will continue to print money to support everyone until a workable alternative to capitalism is found.

This is a good time to stock up on nonperishable food, fractional silver, real estate and like minded friends and family.

You beat me to it-I was just thinking that someone, somewhere, is preparing to start bleating about the “dollar store desert” this will create and blame everything except CommieCare.

I think they haven’t yet had to sign it. Apparently it will be under the aegis of the IRS. If I were a business and had any remote, vague plans about closing, I’d go ahead and do it now.

Amen. My wife & I own a small business franchise that we are closing in 2 months. We are one of many...

The problem is more indirect, as our customers have told us they love us, but have to start cutting back on "non-essentials", the criteria of which in their minds our business services met.

2014 will be a bloodbath for small businesses...

Il Duce Cuomo didn’t want these type stores in the state either:
“YANKEE” THAT IMPLIES “AMERICAN” DOESN’T IT?
“Their problem is not me and democrats, their problem is themselves. Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives, who are right to life, pro assault weapon, anti-gay, is that who they are? Because if that is who they are, and if they are the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York. Because that is not who New Yorkers are.”
You can visualized the spittle dribbling down his chin and onto his vest when he talks like that can’t you?

Both Obama and Il Duce Cuomo will not be sing the song or be shedding tears re the store closings. “Working for the Yankee Dollar” implies earning your money, not unmarried mother government handouts.
Now ex-Governor Eliot Spitzer had a more personal and broader outlook on the endeavor of working class women.

We have a Dollar Tree in our area which used to be an awesome store. Now they only stock on Monday night after the store closes. By Tuesday evening the shelves, which now only carries a lot fewer food items but a greater volume of each, are empty. Really surprising since unemployment isn’t that bad in our area of Texas.

They do have a lot of other non-food stuff which hardly anyone buys.

The major of jobs in this country is in small business.

Worse it means that small businesses will not grow. I have a small business. If I ever reach a point when I need someone besides my spouse and myself to run things I will just cut back. I will never hire anyone. It is just not worth it.

Major should have been majority. I need a mind reader to go along with spell check. Is there an app out there for that?
