Saturday Night Live‘s cold open featured President Barack Obama (played by Jay Pharoah) passionately kissing Justin Bieber (played by Kate McKinnon) in a last ditch effort to boost healthcare enrollment.
Lampooning President’s Obama’s hilarious and effective appearance on “Between Two Ferns” with Zach Galifianakis, SNL showed a desperate President Obama being photographed in Pharrell’s hat, as well as with Kim Kardashian, Harry Styles and Bat Kid.
“Obama” and “Pope Francis” also do it for the Vine, with both men doing popular Atlanta dance the “Nae Nae” to gain youth support.
All these ideas were pitched by a social media expert played by Noel Wells whose goal was to recreate the bump to Healthcare.gov caused by Obama’s appearance on “Between Two Ferns.”

Though Obamacare remains unpopular with conservatives, the White House released a statement saying that more than 6 million Americans have signed up for coverage.
“The Affordable Care Act is working,” House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California asserted in a statement. “Republicans should abandon their reckless pursuit of new milestones in the number of votes to repeal or undermine this historic law.”
Though the deadline for enrollment is technically Monday, March 31, applications for millions of people who have begun the process by that date but have had difficulties signing up must be received by April 7.

That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve seen.
Loved the Justin Beiber portrayal.
SNL has been in the bag for Obama for years; any (soft) shots at him are done far from any elections. SNL is for working low-information voters what daytime TV is for the ones sitting at home all day...
