Why exactly a “national homeland for Jews” would be acceptable to “Palestinian” Islamic supremacists in a way that “Jewish state” isn’t remains unclear, but the “Palestinians,” as maximalist and unilateral as ever, have already rejected the proposal, so we will probably never glimpse the arcane reasoning processes of the formidable Kerry.

US Secretary of State John Kerry is trying to overcome the controversy surrounding the recognition of Israel as a Jewish state by changing the definition to “the national homeland of the Jews”, the London-based Arabic Al-Hayat newspaper reported Saturday morning.
The report, that quoted western diplomatic sources, noted that in exchange for Kerry’s initiative, the Palestinians would have to agree that the Palestinian capital would be established only in parts of East Jerusalem; it was further reported that the Palestinians have rejected the proposal.

Every nation on earth is a homeland.
The Arabs simply deny the Jews are entitled to one. From the Arab viewpoint, the Jews are merely members of a religion and do not constitute a nation. That view by the way, is in black and white in the PLO Covenant.
Now we get to the real heart of the conflict - its not the words “Jewish State” the Arabs have an issue with but with the fact Jews claim national rights that are equal to theirs.
They cannot ever accept Jews as equals and there will never be peace. Any one who thinks otherwise is not conversant with reality.
What utter bs. Kerry needs to go squirt ketchup on a bathroom wall somewhere other than in the Middle East.

Let’s see - he was correct in supporting the Nuclear Freeze movement, the Sandinista regime in Nicaragua and of course his truthful testimony in regards to war crimes by US soldiers in Vietnam - why wouldn’t he be correct in this verbal gymnastic exercise? We are all too obtuse to appreciate his skills when it comes to international issues.
