As November disaster looms, Dems forming circular firing squad

The standard MSM rope is that the GOP is riven by conflict, but even they are beginning to notice Democrats turning against one another. There is going to be hell to pay for the Democrats in November. Having rammed through a disastrous transformation of health care, a lot of congressional Democrats and many more down the ticket suspect that voters will vent their anger at the party that foisted the travesty on us.

As the old saying goes, “Success has a thousand fathers and failure is an orphan.” So Democrats are scrambling to make sure that their backs are protected when Demageddon happens. Against this dynamic, a variety of issues are being contested. Two analysts today lay out the fault lines. Michael Barone:

Now in the sixth year of the Obama presidency, with his job approval stuck below 50 percent, there are signs of strain. And choices made earlier, when Democrats held congressional supermajorities, are starting to prove troublesome.

One choice was to not bring forward immigration legislation that would provide a path to legalization for immigrants in the country unlawfully. This was a top priority for the Hispanic Caucus, but Obama and Democratic congressional leaders chose not to advance an issue that would cost them the support of some Democrats and require Republican votes.

During the 2012 campaign, this caused Obama few problems, except for some pointed questions in a Univision interview. But the president's job approval among Hispanics plummeted 23 points in 2013, according to Gallup -- more than any other demographic group.

Obama’s approval stuck below 50 percent...”

More like 25 percent.

The answer is simple: Obamacare.

Despite the President's claims, Obamacare has turned into a gigantic problem with not enough signees, a lot of web site problems, causing too many people to lose their old insurance plans, and hurting hiring of workers.

A handful of Democrats in congress had a chance to stop this thing years ago but they cowered out and now look at the mess they’re in today.

I think Obammy care is the straw that broke the camel’s back-——The scales were lifted from a lot of people’s eyes when he foisted this on the American people.

I can't believe the media is stuck on 6 or 7 million. Obamacare was supposed to get health insurance for 48 million uninsured. Now the administration is taking a bow for causing 6 million policies to be cancelled, followed by 6 million who "enrolled" - some of which didn't buy a policy, others merely signed up to expanded Medicaid.

This was a complete disaster. Why doesn't somebody bring up the selling point(s) made back in 2009-2010 that we needed to get health insurance for the 48 million uninsured people?

We should not get too confident for these reasons....

Even if we succeed in taking back the Senate this year, in 2016 it is our time to mathematically be the “losing” team due to the Dems having fewer seats up for grabs.

And as we all know from experience, when one party controls both houses, it is easy for the other party to take it back in the following election. Usually two-house control does not last long.

It almost would be better politically to not get the Senate back this year but in 2016.

What can we do with it legislatively anyway? NOTHING without the presidency.

What we COULD do, and it is big, is at least keep his agenda from making any progress outside of his regulatory authority.

And....hopefully keep any SCOTUS retirements from being replaced with raging libs. But, we won’t get an actual conservative until we have the presidency.

GOP has more practice with circular firing squads.

AND, we get more media coverage of our fratricide.

*This* is what’s really giving the RATS gas...lose that bloc’s support and you’re toast. The homo agenda being driven down their throats, attacks on the church and the threat of amnesty immediately taking away their jobs and those of their family and friends = RAT political suicide.

Care to enlighten us with respect to what it appears your own "experience" has forgotten about the election of 2006?

FReegards!

That will be near impossible with the new rules in the Senate (yes, I know they said it wouldn't apply to SCOTUS appointments, but since when are they trustworthy?) and a Dem majority.

I am a conservative and I am not so sure that November will be the RAT debacle that is being predicted. The main reason is that, my opinion, a huge swath of the GOP base now has a ‘show me’ attitude and simply won’t leave home unless there is a really good candidate and a really good reason to vote for them. We have been fooled by RINOs too many times.

By making the election about themselves rather than America, such folk will get a second Obama elected

Whenever we get the Senate, we lose it shortly after.

In recent memory (R)'s held the Senate from 1981 -1987 and from 1995 - 2007 (shared power 2001 - 2003 when Jeffords went independent).

You don't know what you are talking about, but you are so sure you want to lose the opportunity to take the Senate in 2014.

You're a LOSER or maybe just another DU plant.

Get lost.
