Germanys environment minister has called for the controversial gas extraction technique known as fracking to be made illegal. Her comments came ahead of an emergency energy summit.
The countrys 16 state premiers were set to meet on Tuesday evening in Berlin in an attempt to smooth over disagreements around the financing of the country's switch over to renewable energy, known as the Energiewende.
Ahead of the meeting, Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks said Germany should never consider turning to fracking as a solution for its energy needs, despite the success of the technology in the USA.
Fracking involves blasting water mixed with sand and chemicals at high pressure into rocks, releasing the gas.
Unlike the USA, our country is densely populated and small, Hendricks told the Passauer Neue Presse on Tuesday.

And throw climate change deniers in a Kozentrationlager, right?
“Cheap energy is prosperity for the masses. We don’t want that. We want them to starve so we can live in the Walden paradise we deserve.” — Barbara Hendricks

Needs to be investigated for ties to Russian intelligence operatives.
Just my opinion.
” Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks said Germany should never consider turning to fracking as a solution for its energy needs...”
Great plan. European leftists are dumb as rocks. This idiot cockroach wants to rely on Russia for 40% of Germany’s heat and electricity. This is more buffoonery by unelected eco-fascist bureaucrats who should be caged at a zoo with the apes.
Lots of those were in West Germany, going back in history. Willy Brandt (Herr Ostpolitik, and another lefty with a pseudonym; real name Herbert Ernst Karl Frahm) was most likely the tip of the iceberg (and the left still calls him a “statesman”). Even Konrad Adenauer was more sympathetic to the USSR than to the USA.
Explain how Adenauer was a Soviet sympathizer? Things like that make us sound retarded. He was there during the rebuilding days after WWII and was solidly working with the allies.
