...a coalition of environmental, voting rights, labor, and government reform groups...ESPECIALLY Environmentalists from Greenpeace and the Sierra Club...

Everyone of these entities can spend as much as they want supporting (you know it!) democrats and leftist causes across the world and America's fruited plain. They throw wads of cash from collected union dues from the rank and file and contributions from school kids and little old ladies who only want to save the whales into the pockets of greedy democrat politicians! Why should business people be muzzled and these leftists get carte blanche to pay for and spread as much lies as they want?

Where, oh where, outraged so-called reform groups, is the FAIRNESS in THAT?

The thing that is ironic – for the left- is that IIRC defining “speech” as anything besides spoken or written WORDS was originally an argument of the progressives; that “art” or “protest” or burning a flag could be speech.
I don’t like or agree with the underlying idea of this ruling, to me “speech” is written or spoken words (in English), not money, not a crucifix in urine, not burning a flag or performance art, WORDS. But OTOH, if it annoys the lefties enough or gets good candidates elected…..

A Black Democrat for instance may donate to Obama and every member of the Congressional Black Caucus. It helps the little guy.

Democrats should agree with this ruling. If the Koch Brothers gave 2600 to every Republican Congressman that is not going to help them that much.

I have mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand, I think this will benefit the party, on the other hand it’s going to be a boon to cronyism in Washington. I think Citizen’s United got it right, there shouldn’t be limits on a private individual’s ability to spend on political advocacy, but I never really had a major problem with limitations on direct contributions. We’re already being sold out to corporate interests on most major issues. I’m not sure that allowing the chamber of commerce and government contractors to open their wallets even wider is going to benefit the conservative movement in the long run. We can barely get the Republican party to pay attention to us as it is. There’s a reason why Mitch McConnell was the biggest national supporter of McCutcheon. This could turn money away from the various PACs like Club for Growth and FreedomWorks back towards the established leadership of both parties.

The 2000 dollar limit to any one candidate still applies. The aggregate limit of 46,000 no longer applies.

One can give 2000 dollars to as many individual candiates as one wants. There is no limit there.

The Dems are furious because the Unions now have competition.
