Rick Santorum, in movie exec mode, considers his options for 2016
Washington Post ^ | 04/01/2014 | Ben Terris

“There’s going to be a fight on the right to see who will be the Christian conservative choice of 2016,” says Jamie Johnson, a former Santorum campaign staffer. “I’ve never seen the stars aligned like this before in Iowa, with so many possibilities. I love Rick Santorum, and I wish him the best, but this is a new day.”

It’s a day when GOP Sens. Ted Cruz (Tex.) and Rand Paul (Ky.) are rock stars and when former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee could jump in and steal a lot of the evangelical support. And that’s just the fight for the right flank of the party. Who knows whether Jeb Bush or Chris Christie will end up eating away at the pie? This means that even some of Santorum’s most avid supporters last time around can’t promise to be there for him going forward. Ask Chuck Laudner, an Iowa strategist who logged thousands of miles in his pickup truck, working as just one of seven people on the Santorum campaign stationed in Iowa.

“Put it this way,” he said when asked about whether he plans on taking the truck out again in 2016. “Rick’s got dibs. But I don’t expect that you can re-create the 2012 caucus and re-create that dynamic. I doubt that anybody is going to be riding in that truck except me.”

I like Rick Santorum and voted for him in the last primary but I hope everybody who ran last time, sits this one out.

America is too stupid to have a great man as Santorum as President. America does not deserve your incredible greatness. Just enjoy your life and watch America go down in flames because of their intense stupidity. You don’t need to take part of these selfish idiots.

Yeah the progressive liberal Democrat Satanists would love for the GOP to have 10 canidates to vote for while they get behind one. In fact i would expectthem to set up faux conservative groups to encourage and pay candidates to run. We are dealing with a conniving breed of liberal Democrats now. No time to play checkers when they are playing chess. In fact it’s time to play Spock chess - the 3 dimensional variety.

I agree with nearly everything Santorum stands for, but he’s unelectable.

The sweater vest is great; it exudes “family” and the values it evokes.

A standout, to be sure.

Curious as to why you think that is.

Me too but Santorum didn't actually run last time (or the time before) he was just a spoiler for his buddy Mitt Romney. Santorum must know something about the 2016 election that we don't know yet. Perhaps Senator Graham or John Boehner are considering a possible run and may need Santorum's help?

Santorum has turned running for President into a career. I’m kind of jealous, he’s making pretty good coin from it.

He lost his Senate seat while an incumbent. He couldn't beat the father of Obamacare, Mitt Romney, in the 2012 primaries. He then later endorsed Romney.

In short, if he was "electable" he would be currently holding office.

Santorum backed Specter over Toomey. Was he great then?

Do you think that also applies to Palin?

His message, it be early in 2011 I believe just really resonated with me and got me back heavily interested in politics. He just could have been more polished. The media and far left were disgusted with him so he must have been on target and probably paved the way a bit for other conservatives, those we will see running for the next nomination.

Started campaigning in Iowa based in a pick up truck.

Realistically, I expect newer faces to probably make their mark next time.

Santorum was kicked out of his senate seat by a larger margin that Christine O’Donnell lost her race to become a first time office holder.

We will all be better off when this Arlen Specter devoted phony, finds a job, and leaves us alone.

Tier 2 at Pro-Life Profiles which is basically the best ranking of any reknown and somewhat mainstream politician: http://prolifeprofiles.com/rick-santorum-pro-life , I don’t necessarily vouch for the site but the information is helpful nonetheless.

Still, if Rick Santorum ran for President, I wonder if he might become one of those candidates who gets shunned out of the debates if he doesn’t put up good numbers in the primaries. By numbers, in general, I’d say 5% or better to begin with in the early voting.

You morons need to take your pathetic and childish Mitt Romney spoiler excuse and shove it up your ass. Anybody you didn’t want was a Mitt Romney spoiler. Too bad none of you had the man parts to listen to what Sheldon Adelson was saying out loud.

If anybody was helping Romney it was you.
