Michael Morell: No cover-up on Benghazi
Politico ^ | April 2, 2014 | By LUCY MCCALMONT

Former CIA Director Michael Morell denied there was any cover-up or political influence in messaging of the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

“We did not deliberately down play the role of terrorists in the Benghazi attack in our analysis or in the talking points,” Morell said during a House Intelligence Committee hearing Wednesday.

“And neither I, nor anyone else at the agency deliberately misled anyone in Congress about any aspect of the tragedy in Benghazi,” Morell added.

We investigate ourselves and found that we didn’t cover up anything.

In fact we found out we did a great job, yeah- that’s the ticket

Nice headline.

Only this is the CIA, whom the WH and State Dept wanted to throw under.

This is not a State Dept headline, nor a congressional finding.

Lying like the dog he is. Never a thought of politics….during Obama’s re-election campaign…right after he declared terrorism defeated. The reason Susan Rice lied on five TV Sunday shows was that he chose to believe the CIA analysts, who based their talking points on the press coverage (i.e.. The NY Times), instead of on the Chief of Station on the ground in Benghazi!!! Un-freaking-believable! But the Democrats at the hearing were totally on board with that explanation and gave him fawning reviews for his “great service to the country.”

Meanwhile, Amb. Stevens and the three brave fighters who tried to save him are still dead.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/04/01/ex-cia-boss-morell-to-face-heavy-questioning-on-benghazi-at-wednesday-hearing/

Mukasey also said Morell should be asked to explain his post-CIA career decisions which closely align him with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s aides. After retiring from the CIA, Morell joined Beacon Global Strategies as a counselor.Fox News was first to report on the connections between Beacon’s founding partners, Morell, Clinton and the House Intelligence Committee.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/03/24/revolving-door-ties-between-consultancy-govt-raise-questions-about-benghazi/

Morell, who also is a national security analyst for CBS News and has a book deal, joined the Beacon firm after retiring from the CIA last year. In doing so, he joined an organization already stacked with ex-government officials. Among them is Philippe Reines, whom the New York Times magazine recently described as Clinton’s “principal gatekeeper.” According to Beacon’s website, Reines traveled to more than 110 countries with the then-Secretary of State as part of her senior team.

Another employee, Jeremy Bash, was a former chief of staff to Leon Panetta at both the CIA and Defense Department. Andrew Shapiro was a Clinton policy adviser at the State Department whose portfolio included ridding Libya of shoulder-launched missiles called MANPADs.

And it includes Republican J. Michael Allen, who was a former majority staff director for the House Intelligence Committee, headed by Republican Rep. Mike Rogers.

Beacon Global Strategies LLC (BGS) is a Washington, DC-based strategic advisory firm founded by partners Michael Allen, Jeremy Bash, Philippe Reines, and Andrew Shapiro in 2013.[1][2] According to the firm’s website, Beacon Global Strategies specializes in matters of international policy, foreign affairs, national defense, cyber, intelligence, and homeland security.[3]

About BGS[edit]

A September 2013 article in Defense News, describes Beacon Global Strategies as unique for a Washington consulting firm because of its partners’ intent to eventually return to government. The article noted that “Part of the confidence in future public service may stem from a combination of significant titles and relative youth, paired with the fact that most of the founders of the firm have ties to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who may be a presidential favorite heading into the 2016 election if she decides to run.”[1]

A September 2013 Washington Post profile of Beacon Global Strategies highlighted the firm’s bipartisan make up: “‘We want to build bipartisan support for solutions to complex national security problems,’ Bash said, noting that cooperation between Democrats and Republicans on these issues ‘has been lacking in recent years.’”[4]
BGS Leadership[edit]

Before founding Beacon Global Strategies, the four partners served in a variety of government positions:

Michael Allen served as Majority Staff Director of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), under Chairman Mike Rogers (R-MI) from 2011-2013.[5] He previously served in the George W. Bush White House.[6] Allen is the author of “Blinking Red: Crisis and Compromise in American Intelligence after 9/11” (Potomac Books Inc. September 2013).[7]

Jeremy Bash was the only Obama Administration official to have served as Chief of Staff in two national security departments or agencies: first as Chief of Staff to the Director of the CIA (2009-2011) and most recently as Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense (2011-2013).[8][9] Philippe Reines is a long-time Senior Advisor to former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
From 2009-2013, Reines served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Strategic Communications and Senior Communications Advisor.[10] Reines served from 2002-2009 as Senior Advisor & Press Secretary for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.[11]

Andrew Shapiro is the former and longest serving Senate confirmed United States Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs (2009-2013).[12] During the presidential transition of Barack Obama, Shapiro was a member of the Obama-Biden Department of Defense Agency Review Team, and during the 2008 presidential election, a member of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, advising on foreign affairs.

WASHINGTON — Consulting groups are routinely a place where former public servants are put out to pasture, a last stop to conclude careers built on senior government positions. But a group of former senior officials is building a new firm, Beacon Global Strategies, while retaining an additional goal.

They all want to go back into government.

Part of the confidence in future public service may stem from a combination of significant titles and relative youth, paired with the fact that most of the founders of the firm have ties to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who may be a presidential favorite heading into the 2016 election if she decides to run.

Benghazi critics hit lobbying firm
‘Revolving door’ from public to private sector

Government watchdogs and a veteran congressman are sharply criticizing a bipartisan consulting firm formed by a trio of former Obama administration insiders and the former staff director of the House Intelligence Committee, whose Republican chairman opposes a select committee in the deadly September 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi.

J. Michael Allen resigned from the committee in August to join Beacon Global Strategies with Phillipe Reines, spokesman for former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton; former Assistant Secretary of State Andrew Shapiro; and Jeremy Bash, chief of staff to former CIA director and Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta.

The firm will specialize in foreign affairs, national defense and homeland security. Mr. Panetta, a Clinton ally, is its first client.

More here from the link (but watch video also). It didn’t get enough coverage:

The Fox News report by Catherine Herridge notes that ***one month*** after Allen interviewed Morell about the Benghazi attack in May 2013, Beacon approached him to hire him. Allen was then one of the most senior GOP officials on the issue and Morell the deputy director at the CIA.....

J. Michael Allen is the founder and managing director of Beacon Global Strategies. He previously served as the staff director for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, chaired by GOP Rep. Mike Rogers of Michigan and perhaps the most important panel investigating Benghazi.

Allen’s new business partners at Beacon include:

Philippe Reines, a dyed-in-the-wool Clinton hatchet man who worked for Clinton from 2002 until founding Beacon

Andrew Shapiro, a former top State Department official (under Clinton) and senior policy adviser to Clinton

Josh Kirshner, a former top State Department official under Clinton who also worked for her as a Senate aide in 2006

Ashley Woolheater, who previously led a team “responsible for crafting and executing the strategic media goals of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton” at the State Department

Jeremy Bash, a former chief of staff to Leon Panetta at the Defense Department and CIA under President Obama

Julianne Smith, a former top aide to Vice President Joe Biden

Sarah Davey, a former aide to Michelle Obama who helped craft the “Let’s Move!” initiative

Meredith Steen, a low-level Democratic aide who interned for Democrat James Moran

PS: Greetings Ad-guy. Hope you are well. Missing you and the other ever-witty freepers on the Levin thread.

What pisses me off is he said that the analysts based some of their decisions on the news reports. But, then he said he discredited the Chief of Station’s report that it was NOT a demonstration, because he had quoted “news reports” as one of the sources.

So apparently, the analysts reading the NY Times have better, more knowledgeable news reporters than the local reporters in Libya! At least, that is what he is trying to sell!

This man has been lying since he got started!! PERIOD!

No cover-up?

Then why isn’t the Current Occupant up on impeachment charges and the former Secretary of State, Herself, the Cold & Joyless, under indictment for high crimes and treason?

Because the Attorney General, Eric Holder, can be depended upon to carry out the tasks as he has been directed, over at the Department of Just-Us. Only what he is doing is not the legal duty he has to uphold the existing law and the Constitution.
