Talk about spiking the ball.
Speaking in the White House Rose Garden yesterday afternoon, President Obama declared flatly that the Affordable Care Act, which he proudly referred to as ObamaCare, is doing what its supposed to do; its working.
The president had reason to be pleased. According to the White House, 7.1 million Americans signed up, slightly more than the Congressional Budget Office had said was necessary for the law to work as planned. Considering the Web-site disaster and all other problems that weve seen so far, this represents a significant accomplishment. .....
But while the president basked in his success and predictably castigated his critics, he took no questions.
Perhaps thats because some of them would have been hard to answer. For instance:
How many new enrollees have paid their premiums? The numbers above include everyone who has picked a health plan, even if they havent yet paid for it, sort of like Amazon counting every item a shopper puts in their cart as a sale. Even Health Secretary Kathleen Sibelius concedes that only 80 percent of those whove picked a plan have actually paid the first months premium.
Insurance executives also report that another 3 percent to 5 percent paid once, but then stopped.
If these numbers hold, it would mean that just 5.6 million Americans (and 312,000 New Yorkers) really bought insurance through the exchanges.

That’s more than you can say for those who voted his sorry butt into the White Hut.
I bet Clown Prince nobama, the chronic liar, believes his corrosive spew.
The debate is over.
Over 7 mil happy patients served.
Obama (says he) won.
Comply, comply!
But, let’s focus on all the insured, that “put up with their plan” like my wife, but the insurer cancelled coverage, (As did our Texas risk pool BCBS forcing her to make a decision.)
So, overall, we’ve got 6.4 million folks who lost insurance, as their policy didn’t meet O’care’s standards, and we’ve got 7.1 million folks that mashed the yes button on O’care website. I assume that the folks who lost insurance were pissed, so most of them signed up for the replacement O’care insurance.
That leaves very little room for new enrollees to get insurance for the first time!
What a total disaster, especially with 2/3rds of the enrollees supposedly eligible for subsidies.
BTY, where in the hell is Sherriff Joe and his proof that Zer0 is a zero????
The definition of success to the slacker-in-chief looks like failure to everyone else.
So Barack Obama took the existing health care system, put it into a blender and hit ‘liquify’. We really don’t have any more people insured. Health care insurance premiums have skyrocketed. Yeah, you may get a subsidy, but it ain’t going to be cheaper overall. Government will be making major health care decisions for you. If that’s whats considered to be working, I’m Efrem Zimbalist Jr.
In the course of throwing numbers around, it’s worth remembering that virtually all (if not all) of those folks obtaining policies were threatened with fines if they failed to do so.
“is doing what it’s supposed to do” ELIMINATING INSURANCE COMPANIES!!
” 7.1 million Americans signed up”
Which part of MANDATED a.k.a. FORCED do they not understand?
My head is going to explode!! Besides most of the 7.1 million - if one is to believe that figure - were people who already had health insurance that was cancelled and they were FORCED to buy something.....
I cannot take it anymore. The Rats and the so-called news reporting makes me want to screaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmm!
Thanks for listening....
they’ve been trying desperately to get this issue off the table.
“President Obama declared flatly that the Affordable Care Act, which he proudly referred to as ObamaCare, is doing what its supposed to do; its working.....
He finally spoke the truth, it’s working to destroy this country.
I have to wonder how many of this supposed total are illegal immigrants. Also, since millions had their plans “canceled” how many of these folks were forced to sign-up?
