The ones that went in the regular military from reserves lost rank. Exactly he could have been an E-5 or even E-6 at one point and lost rank going active. I tried to go back in somewhere around 1982. MY EAOS was in 1980. I would have been an E-3 or possibly E-2 if I had done so. I said no thanks. I enlisted in the NG in 1984 and kept my Navy rank. If my unit had been activated to active status I would have been busted back to E-3.
