SASSE/LEE REPORT: PREMIUMS INCREASE $2,900 PER FAMILY PER YEAR
Breitbart ^ | April 3, 2014 | By Tony Lee

One of the Tea Party's top stars in Congress has penned an Obamacare op-ed co-bylined by Nebraska Senate candidate Ben Sasse.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Sasse argue that Obamacare's failures offer an opportunity for conservatives to be a movement that represents solutions and stands on the side of working-class Americans.

"Republicans cannot win the healthcare debate until we effectively communicate our solutions to the problems that plague working families," they write in Thursday op-ed in the Washington Examiner.

The article comes two days after Obama took what was considered a "victory lap" to tout the 7.1 million Americans who have enrolled in Obamacare. "If we are unwilling or unclear, the president will continue to mislead, government will continue to grow, and our healthcare system will continue to unravel," the two Republicans write.

Sasse and Lee, who was the architect of the strategy to defund Obamacare last fall, blasted Obama's Tuesday Rose Garden victory lap speech Tuesday, saying the only thing missing was a "Mission Accomplished" banner.

Sasse, who has been surging as the anti-Obamacare candidate, and Lee, who has been touting solutions to make conservatives the party of the working class, wrote that Obama had a moment of honesty when he said that Obamacare is "working" and "doing exactly what it is supposed to do."

They write that Obamacare is forcing people to go on government-approved plans and limiting their health care options, requiring "millions of people to pay for services they’ll never use, such as seniors with adult children paying for maternity care, and " vacuuming "great sums of wealth from the middle class and put it under the control of government bureaucrats."

Lee and Sasse note that most of the people who are enrolled in Obamacare are those who were previously insured while "premiums have increased by $2,900 per family per year" and "millions have lost health insurance altogether as "businesses are being forced to let workers go or cut hours."

The “truth” is only what the mainstream media says it is and that’s where the liberal voters get their news. And if it’s not true, they couldn’t report it. /s

That can’t be right.
Obama said it would save everyone $2500.00 per year.

Sasse/Lee must have mixed up a decimal or a column or something.

My wife is a manager at a large box store. All her part time workers, most of which are getting 28-40 hrs now, will be cut to 24 max starting next month. A very few key workers working 40 or close will be given full time status, all others will get cut no exceptions

She was told by her district manager that they are specifically not to mention the word Obamacare or ACA when telling them why it is happening and to direct any questions to the 1-800 HR number.

Is Obama’s promised $2,500 savings actually the premium/tax subsidy?

I have a friend who is just above the poverty level and she signed up and qualified for a $215 per month subsidy. Annually that would be $2,580.

Was she previously covered?

Obama claimed the savings to be in premiums currently paid, if memory serves.

What is her out of pocket and deductible? Or does she know she will have to pay that?

She was uninsured before Obamacare. She made too much for Medicaid.

The answer to question about deductibles and co-pays. The silver plan with Kaiser actually had reasonable numbers. Previously, I had only seen plans with high deductibles, etc. Then when she called and asked to take a look at it, there was this silver plan with Kaiser which I had not seen before. I am guessing it was a late addition. It is an HMO but she seems happy with it.

Dont get me wrong I want Obamacare repealed and she knows it. She is an Obama supporter and I have been working on converting her since Obama was first elected.

Back to the $2,500 savings, anyone else heard whether this is actually the subsidy amount, which is not savings but redistribution.

premiums increase $2900 a year.

le’s also include the fact deductibles have increased dramatically on these plans as well. tis is real money they will have to spend b/f these “wonderful” plans chip in anything.

Exactly, thus my question.

If she wasn't paying anything before, but is now being subsidized.. there is no savings.

I wasnt referring to her specifically about the $2,500 savings. She pays $85 a month and the insurance gets another $215 from the subsidy. She is a beneficiary of the redistribution, you and I are paying for with taxes.

My question was about Obama’s promise of $2,500 savings. Was he really talking about the premium subsidy? In the other words, was he lying by calling the subsidy savings?

I think so. He's lied about most other aspects of the deal.

The narrative weaves around and changes and contradicts itself so much.. who the hell knows anymore.

That is bad enough, but the huge jump in deductibles is worse. They are so high that you’re only getting catastrophe insurance at the price of what was full coverage prior to Obamacare.
