In a seriously hilarious skit on The Tonight Show Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin (Jimmy Fallon) called up former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to talk about her impressive 2008 prediction that he would invade Ukraine.
We dont want to give too much away, but Palin also busts a flute solo and President Barack Obama gets caught trying to listen in on their phone call.
Then theres this side-splitting one-liner from Putin: I come from strong genes. President Obama, he comes from mom jeans.
Trust us, you want to watch it all the way through.

“Why can’t conservatism be cool”
Conservatism can’t be cool, because only ideas and behaviors that lead to very predictable social pathologies, and eventual individual misery can be considered cool.

Think about the definition of cool -
I believe cool means in that state of rebellion to DOMINANT values just below the point of being seen as dangerous.
Liberals are dominant.
Conservatism is rebellion against socialism.

And the Ukraine invasion humor was so funny because it was a finger in the eye of everyone whod ever bad mouthed her. For whatever reason Fallon was rehabbing everything bad ever said about her. Im still smiling about that.
Yes, and the more I've pondered this today, the more I think her bona fide prediction regarding Putin invading the Ukraine could very well be THE bridge between the Tina Fey Palin fans/detractors on one side and the time-proven Sarah Palin who could get enough non-Republican votes in enough States to be elected (President) in the future.
The Tonight Show appearance was a surprise and was VERY effective for her moving past the Fey/Couric/Letterman chacterizations the media has relentlessly portrayed.
And the times, they are a changin'...again.

We’ll see...
I don’t really envision that being in rebellion to PC, socialism, anti-Westernism, and liberalism is going to be deemed “cool” by the zeitgeist.

Sarah has it all over Ann hands down. Laura Ingraham, Michelle Bachman, Michelle Malkin, Deneen Borelli, Judge Jennine Pirro, Gretchen Carlson, etc. are hot too.
Why is it Democraps never are faced with the dilemas which us conservative guys are, about which of their women are the hottest?

Cute! Yes I am surprised that Fallon criticized Obamugabe. Wasn’t he slobbering all over the Obummers for his opening show?
Also surprising was the audience response to Palin. Must have been a group of conservatives that infiltrated.

I would not go that far. Did not watch it, but I seem to recall that Fallon’s premier program was heavy on progressives, including the First Grifters.

Why cant conservatism be cool?Everybody pretty much said what I would to answer your question. If only add: it's not that conservatism "can't" be cool per se, but that it simply is not, because as others have said what makes something "cool" is the perception that it is counter cultural and/or rebellious against traditional values. Something that is unique and contrary to a traditional way of thinking or doing things, which is precisely what conservatism holds dear.
Also anything new is cool.
I would also add however that despite all of this, liberalism/leftism is precisely not "cool" because it doesn't actually go against anything. It actually forces compliance TO a given idea, a given way of doing things. And if one is not compliant, one is not "cool". So it's a catch 22 almost, in reverse.
Now I personally think conservatism is cool, but socially speaking? Would the average Joe agree with me? No. To such "cultural" people, cool is anything against conservatism, and anything their friends tell them is cool.
Like voting for the first black president. That was cool back in 2008 (and to a lesser extent back in 2012) because it was a new thing to do. And it thumbed a nose at perceived (not real) racism. And oh, did I mention it was cool?
Now, not so much. Even Jimmy Falon sees it now.
To: Bigg Red
Oh I have no doubt Fallon was and remains a flaming liberal. Don’t get me wrong.
Perhaps I should have phrased what I said, “When you’ve lost Jimmy Fallon..” Then again David Letterman is his only competition and he’s no stalwart of conservatism either.

Very not cool to point that out!

We need to start a new slogan: I was a conservative, when Conservative wasnt cool. To the tune of Barbara Mandels - I was country, when country wasnt cool. We need to turn this around so people will want to be considered cool! We'll need a different song of being seen as "cool" is the objective.

But I'd be a hypocrite to use it; I continued to vote also (and remarkably stupidly) for moderate Republicans because I couldn't figure a better alternative...having been through the Perot thing.

Indeed.
However, after that skit, I now sort of like Jimmy Fallon.
