The North Carolina Senate race is about as close as it could get, according to a new poll.
The SurveyUSA poll released on Thursday found Sen. Kay Hagan (D) essentially neck-and-neck each of her possible Republican contenders in a general election fight. Against House Speaker Thom Tillis (R-NC), the establishment candidate who has been seen as the frontrunner in the race, Hagan gets 45 percent support while Tillis gets 46 percent. Against tea partier Greg Brannon, Hagan trails by two points with 45 percent support to Brannon's 47 percent.
The findings aren't much better against the lesser known candidates. SurveyUSA found Hagan trailing nursing practitioner Heather Grant 46 percent to 44 percent. Against ex-Mayor Ted Alexander Hagan has 44 percent while Alexander gets 46 percent.
The poll also found 50 percent of voters said they disapprove of the job Hagan is doing while 38 percent said they approve.

The liberal polling firm Public Policy Polling shows similar results. It looks dire for Kay Hagan, which is good for the country.
Ping
I think they will get rid of Hagen as well.
In light of the most recent revelation of voter fraud, anyone with a D after their name may shy away... at least, one can hope.
The Obama wave didn’t last long. The Pubie surge will be huge.
She needs to go....
The fact that she is only polling around 45% against candidates that have almost zero name recognition (nurse practitioner) spells big trouble for an incumbant.
Once the repubs pick the candidate...he needs to stay on message, do no interviews (media will try to trip him up with phony “war on women” questions, etc.), and hammer Kagan on obamacare and the economy until November...STAY ON MESSAGE.
Hagen not Kagan...need more cofee...
Let’s give Jesse Helms’ old seat to another real conservative, Greg Brannon, not another Elizabeth Dole type like Thom Tillis!
Helms held the seat for 30 years. Dole for only six.
Moderates are just placeholders who vote with the democrats until a real democrat can take the seat.
Hagan and the other “Coattail Kids” from 2008 should all be sweating things this year. They all walked in in the shadow of a young, clean, and articulate first black president.
All you need is a pulse to beat Hagan. The question is whether the NC Republicans will manage to screw it up somehow.
This is a sure seat for the GOP.
I’ve taken a passing interest in this race, along with the Louisiana race, and Hagan is falling apart
“The poll also found 50 percent of voters said they disapprove of the job Hagan is doing while 38 percent said they approve.”
These are the really important numbers. If “The Hag” is at 38% approval, then its most probably over for her. The big problem for us will be Tillis if he wins the seat.
Polls have been fairly consistent. Hagan trails everyone by similar margins.
But a certain freeper I trust warns that FR memetic favorite Brannon could blow this race.
The enemy is Hagan, not Tillis.
