RE: Illinois bishop upholds priest’s decision to deny Communion to pro-abort Sen. Dick Durbin

Will the California Bishop do the same to Nancy Pelosi?

Will the NY Bishop do the same to Andrew Cuomo?

“The Church will get back in bed with the Democrats just as soon as they get their exemption so that the Church gets to keep money in their coffers.”

Maybe, but I’m not sure. At this point the American Church either fights or becomes increasingly irrelevant. Even if they are just being practical, they must either show they are different from the storefront church across the street festooned with rainbow flags, or they can close up shop (which in my area is exactly what is happening - they are liquidating the assets).

“Because the Church is perfectly comfortable with their congregants supporting abortion in public office, as long as the Church gets to claim with pious fervor that their hands are clean.”

Certainly many in the hierarchy seemed quite comfortable with this; at this point the Church realizes that when you don’t enforce some rules, it becomes nearly impossible to enforce any. Either they take a stand, or continue shrinking.

Somewhere on the big movie screen in the sky, Deanna, born a Baptist, is singing "Hallelujah".

So is this Lutheran.

The trouble with this is....they are rarely in their home states to begin with, so they’ll continue to go to Mass in the DC area where they WON’T be denied communion. I’m glad they’re finally doing this, even though it’s mainly a symbolic gesture.

Why is it that, while liberal Catholics in general are leaving the Church in droves because they believe in abortion, liberal Catholic POLITICIANS who not only believe in abortion but also vote to provide government funds to CARRY OUT abortions, tenaciously continue to attend church and participate in Catholicism’s most sacred rituals like communion?

Why, except because they’re politicians and benefit among Catholic voters by being ostentatiously Catholic?

What a blessing that a few priests have finally said no to allowing politicians like Dick Durbin to use the Church to promote their selfish political ambitions.

The instant any politician votes for a law that supports abortion, every Christian sect church on Earth should forever excommunicate that politician.

Murder of innocent children is an unforgivable act.

Also seek a restraining order against them from all church property as they have demonstrated the propensity for murder.

Canon Law states that a bishop really cannot interfere with the decisions of a pastor of a parish. It would just take the right priests making the right example, and then getting publicity about it.

The best thing that can happen in this case is for this to have National Exposure to News. Then priests would realize they have the right and should deny communion to these politicians...
