tsk, tsk. Moran wants to further wealth inequality. After all, how many poor people in DC even get $174,000?

Oh, yes. If you live in VA-8, I’m afraid we ain’t seen nothing yet. Look at the declared candidates.

Sadly, there’s almost no chance this will go anywhere but further left

I like your idea. Especially the repeal part. Lets start by repealing them this November. Repeal the whole bunch.

There's a perfect spot for all the Congresscritters to stay: The Greenbrier Resort.

In the late 1950’s and early 1960s, the Greenbrier was remodeled to add a wing that would house all of the U.S. Congress and other officials of the government in an underground bunker. This command and control bunker was to run the United States from in case of an attack by the Soviet Union.

The bunker is still there and waiting for our Congresscritter bigwigs. Although the bunker was decommissioned in 1992 after its presence was leaked, it still remains ready for occupancy. Therefore, make all the Congress use what the taxpayers bought for them; make them stay there while in-session. Make them conduct all their business away from DC and at the Greenbrier.

The Greenbrier Resort
300 West Main Street
White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986

It’s DC, let them live in public housing. Most of these folks believe in big government, let them enjoy the product of big government.

At $174,000 plus what they can expense out they aren’t underpaid.

The median household income in Fairfax County, VA is $103,000.

Let them live in the burbs and commute like the proles they steal from.

Many working taxpayers who commute back and forth all the way from West Virginia to DC for work every day can only dream of making $174,000 a year.

Move the Senate and House to places like Detroit and Dearbornistan.

I guarantee they would accomplish a lot more in a much shorter time and they wouldn’t be lingering around to attend elitist parties.

Moran: Members Can’t Afford to Live Decently in D.C.

Two retorts spring immediately to mind. One is that they aren't decent any where so why should DC be any different?

The second is what Nero said when he completed Domus Aurea "At last I am beginning to be housed like a human being."

The Congresscritters might want to take note of his end as a warning.

Well that’s part of the provlem-nobody asked them to take over a large percentage of what should be private sector responsibilities and run them.

Most congresspersons should be getting free housing...in a prison. If they are paid so little, how do they all become multimillionaires?????

I agree. I’ve noticed that too, about how being a congressman is a path to riches and perks these days. I believe that’s part of why the GOPe doesn’t care that much when they lose, they’re still in “the game”.

I’ve got a better idea. Take an old building on a military base in the area and convert it into a barracks facility for members of Congress. Let them live there free of charge while they’re in Washington doing the business of the people who elect them.

Amen. You can have a school bus that goes to and from each day.

And there will be security cameras (for their security, sorry about the loss of privacy) and public record check-in and -out logs just like the White House.

Let them tell their constituents why they were out til 4AM and missed the vote the next morning.

[A distributed legislature would also make lobbying much less convenient for the powers that be.]

Salaries and compensation could be cut to reflect the savings in housing, security and travel.

Maybe if Cong. Moron didn’t have so many bar tabs, he’d be able to afford living on his salary. (PS Has he stopped beating his ex-wife?)

"these bastards would be locked up in an old WWII style army barracks"

There used to be some of those at Fort Meade. A bus could drop them off at the end of the Metro and pick-em-up in the evening.
