I’ve got a better idea. Take an old building on a military base in the area and convert it into a barracks facility for members of Congress. Let them live there free of charge while they’re in Washington doing the business of the people who elect them.

I’d be in favor of some appropriate townhouses being constructed at Fort Belvoir or similar.
The real problem here is that the burgeoning Federal monster has made living in DC quite expensive. Cut back on the Federal beast, and the problem goes away.
Dormitory. This has been my idea for years. It’s a temporary assignment. Why let them get too comfortable?
If the salary is not enough, then the should relinquish it in exchange for section 8 housing, food stamps, an Obama phone, and all of the other goodies the entitlement crowd takes. Let them live the life of ‘equality’ that they so espouse, including enrollment in Obamacare.

And there will be security cameras (for their security, sorry about the loss of privacy) and public record check-in and -out logs just like the White House.
Let them tell their constituents why they were out til 4AM and missed the vote the next morning.
