It isn’t necessarily the salary Congresscritters make, it is the perks they get. Those perks add up to several $million dollars.

In the early 1970s I read an article in an economy publication that Congresscritters received over $1 million THEN in post-salary perks.

How else can they ‘hire’ family members for various jobs?
