After centuries of serfdom, Putin has delivered prosperity.
By the end of this next term, which ends in 2016, he will have served more than four terms as either president or prime minister and as Russias sole de facto leader of the 21st century. In the unlikely event that he would then choose to retire, he would do so arguably as the countrys greatest leader since the magnificent czars of the 17th century, Peter the Great and Catherine the Great.

18th Century for Catherine.
De facto by whose law, I wonder. Since he’s free to write his own laws, it’s more like de jure either way.
With Crimea as the feather in his cap, he is the greatest Russian ruler since Peter I.
No Western leader is his true equal. And he does not care about membership in the declining West, whose true lack of clout has been exposed in the ineffectual sanctions imposed on Russia.
For Russia, the value of the BRICS, of which it is a member, outweighs any prestige the G-7 once had. Putin has plenty of options. Obama has no real sticks on hand.
Putin faces key challenges if he is to attain such a status in his nation’s history.
A) He has to create a thriving industrial sector in Russia. The potential is there for manufacturing, but has yet to progress past a mediocre standard.
B) He has to solidify an eastern customs union including most if not all of the central Asian countries, Armenia, Belarus, and (with a lot of effort) it might be possible to draw Georgia in should the EUSSR fiasco continue. This union must avoid politics at all costs, focusing on trade relations as a bloc.
C) He has to continue the reversal of Russia’s demographic decline. Russia was one of the first nations to legalize abortion. It should set the trend again, and while Putin’s tenure may not be long enough to get to the stage of an outright ban, he should continue to act on the DUMA recommendations, moving towards an outright ban in Russia.
D) He has to, generally, make Russia’s economic capabilities match its military capabilities. Only then can he truly reclaim that superpower status.
On the foreign expansion effort, I think he leaves little to be wanted by the Russian people. I doubt they ever dreamed that by the end of Obama’s term, Putin would have won Egypt, the power-broker of the Middle East once safely considered an American allied state, and expanded Russian influence in Africa. He has also negotiated somewhat of a high point in Chinese-Russian relations.
.......
*sigh* why is Obama so useless? He has done nothing good for this country. Not one thing.
What I’d say about the BRICS is that they should kick South Africa out and take on Nigeria instead. SA is becoming a basket case at the hands of Jacob ‘burn whitey’ Zuma.
It amazes me how many people are lining up to lick Tsar Vlad’s boots. Tell me, what does the dirt taste like?
Russia Just Recorded Its First Natural Population Growth Since The Collapse of The Soviet Union
A great achievement.

Putin is a real man, and he knows that Obumbo is a man-child.
Putin is feeling his oats, as he should.
More like Premier Putin...
While that may be true I spent too much time ducking and covering under a school desk to ever trust a Ruskie....no matter how much time has passed.
Obama is weak. Putin is strong but I don’t trust neither one nor do I laud Vlad.
~18th Century for Catherine.~
AFAIK, she was the first who wrestled Crimea from Turkey in Russo-Turkish and Russian-Iranian Wars in 18th century.
Cathy was a kind of feminist of that era and one of the official reasons behind her stance toward islamic countries down south was their “War on Women”. An idea to liberatate women, often enslaved Chrisians, who were forced into harems to share one husband was an impotant part of Russian war propaganda at the time. Also Georgia and Armenia, a Christian nations, has paid taxes to Iranians and Turks with young women at the time. Their auorities were condemned by Russian propaganda and targeted by military for “feeding the devil” at the time too.
Russia was in horrendous condition after suffering eighty years of the Left’s crowning achievement, communism. It would be foolish to expect any effectual current Russian leader to behave in a manner that would please his Western critics. It is not surprising that his most bitter and fiercest critics are the progressive globalists who are the real heirs of the communists.
Putin must escape his party indoctrination which began with him as a child. He needs to find out why Sergei Kurdokov would jump ship in the Aleutians for the remote chance that he might survive the night in freezing seas to have a taste of freedom. He needs to find out who killed Kurdokov and why. If it was him, he needs to repent of his murder and return to hs own historical Orthodox roots and find out how Rissia ran off the tracks. He needs to learn what Berdyaev meant when he said that “Our will to culture was always accompanied by the will to life!” Solzhenitsyn also knew, that the only justification for the very existence of Russia, or any other nation for that matter, is to bring Redemption to the world: which is the basic message of Christianity. The millennial impass that obstructs this goal is the disconnect between the Christian West and its biblical root in Israel and its Torah. Every nation and people group on earth is invited to take part in the Geulah (Redemption), but as always, men must choose, and as they do so they must know that the results of their choices will land squarely n their own children. As Moshe Rabeinu (Moses our Teacher) said, “Behold, I have placed before you Life and Death; Choose Life, that you and your children may live!” L’Chaim!
