"The assumption Democrats made that, once implemented, Obamacare would be popular ranks up there with Custers assumption there were only a few Indians at the Little Big Horn."

One definition of a "progressive attitude" can be admitting one has made a mistake and then "progressing" to a correct solution.
"All change is not growth (or progress), as all movement is not forward."
More accurately if a "progressive" policy fails, it can only be because they didn't do enough of it and need to expand the scope...
Obama in 2014...Floorward!!
When in all of recorded history has a “progressive” -under whatever name- admitted that their policy was flawed?
Floorward!! I’m stealing that...
All this being true I have zero expectation it will truly be rolled back.
GOP will pickup seats in midterm but a veto proof majority it won’t have so Obamacare will stay.
After the next presidential election a compromise bill that makes substantial changes will be passed, it will be hailed as a “repeal” but it won’t be.
Oh yeah. Stolen.
I have a better one somewhere but Im having some difficulty find it!
my file naming conventions are NOT all they should be.....
Ten bucks says the very same thing happens this November.
“More accurately if a “progressive” policy fails, it can only be because they didn’t do enough of it and need to expand the scope... “
Progressives always fail in the end, and they alway attribute that failure to the fact that the “wrong people” were in charge and if only they had had “better” leadership, they would have succeeded.
very bit = every bit
With the current generation of upstart “progressives” invariably defining themselves as “better”...
AMEN and AMEN!
Obamacare Democratcare was a major success, it remains that Constitution-ignoring Democrats wrongly established Democratcare outside the framework of the Constitution like Democrats and RINOs have been doing with most everything else for the last 60+ years.
ObamaCare can never be repealed because the system it replaced was already irreparably broken. You can’t have an insurance-based system of delivering medical care in an “upside-down” demographic environment where the high cost of providing care to older people deters everyone else from signing up for a raw deal.
Sounds to me as if someone sat out. If so you too got exactly what you deserve in the commie.
But in 2012 ObamaCare's most noxious provisions still hadn't been implemented. The difference now is that we're two years further into ObamaCare, and even a lot of Americans who voted for Obama have seen the pile of sh!t known as ObamaCare up close ... and they don't like it at all.
P.J. O’Rourke has said it better than anyone:
” At the core of Liberalism is the spoiled child. Miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats.”
Now I ask you, doesn’t this fit your “liberal friends?” It sure fits mine.
God, man! The reason progressive ideas have never worked in the past is simply because the wrong people were in charge.
We are the people we have been waiting for! Do you not know this???? For shame!!!
If only he had included envious...
See post 15...
Nope. Not at all. How’s voting for liberal republicans working out for ya?
I'm wondering if all of these rats (both parties) deserting the sinking ship aren't onto something. That would be that the economy is not sustainable, the US is overextended in foreign situations we shouldn't be in and can't any longer defend our allies, and a long, hot summer could get very violent. They've all got foreign, mountaintop, island or gated fortresses in their portfolio.
If I were in that situation, I'd take my money and run to somewhere safe before it all comes tumblin' down.
They’ll fix it...soon.....really. Cuz they are the BETTER people they have been waiting for ;)
I'll bet you've never set foot in Massachusetts.OTOH,except for the time when the US Department of Defense was my "employer" I've lived here *all* my life. You don't have the first clue how "Romneycare" came about.
So was Romney lying when he promised to do away with OsamaObamaCare during the campaign?
And just to prove how little you know about Massachusetts politics here's a little quiz for ya:what do the last three Speakers (all Rats) of the Massachusetts House of Representatives have in common?
No fair looking it up!
“That’s the grandfather of Obamacare. He’s proven that he’s all for socialized medicine.”
You need to understand that Mormonism, at it’s core, it Socialistic. So it isn’t hard to understand where Romney is coming from. Actually, pick an organized religion and I think you will find Socialism at it’s core as well. Put a “church person” in public office and you will likely find that they pursue a “socialist agenda.” The one that galls me is Reid. He should be excommunicated from the Mormon Church, but the “boys up in Salt Lake City” are hiding under there pulpits.
“So was Romney lying”
Yes. Regardless of the question. Funny how people ignore all his 2 faced bull when it suits.
I think one common thread Republicans should jump on is that all politics are NOT local. The Dems are merely trying to get another vote for their national agenda, one more party vote in D.C. just as they did for Obamacare. And once they get that vote it’s for six years and they could give a flying whatever what their constituents think for five of those years. They’ve nationalized Congress, something that needs to be undone.
Another winning issue for pubs would be to keep our Internet free. I don’t know where they are on this but they’d better get their sorry butts on keeping the Internet before it’s too late.
How’s 4 more years of the destruction of this country working?
Ask Bhoner, McColnell, Cantor, Ryan and the other republicans who have the power to stop that destruction dead in it’s tracks and won’t lift a finger to do it. Rather, they keep writing him checks to get it done.
Ask Mr. Eternal Investigator who cannot seem to prosecute anything with a Dem involved. Then get back to me.
Bill Clinton did say “The era of big government is over!” He was lying, is true, but he did “admit” that progressive policies were failed.
So, an admission that is a lie does not technically disprove your point....
I disagree with the author’s assertion that “this administration could not organize a two car funeral.” They have been very adept at using the agencies (EPA, Labor, NLRB, HHS and ICE) to accomplish progressive goals that could not be achieved in Congress and are not supported by a majority of the American people. There is perhaps no greater argument to refuse to elect another Democrat as President in 2016 than to stop this subversion of democracy, representative government, federalism and the separation of powers.
Another expert on Massachusetts politics? Cool! To claim your "expert" trophy why don't you take the quiz put forth in post #34?
And no fair looking it up!
Oh trust me I do agree
Christine O’Donnell got more votes in her Senate run than Robamany in his Presidential run in Delaware. Mittens was unelectable. His 47% comment was spot on but he ran away from it like a little school girl. The real DemocRat wins when DemocRat lite is the other choice.
There’s no question that Dems are evil. I get that. But I just do not believe that us continuing to elect republicans who are repeatedly proving themselves every bit as evil is the answer.
People ignored Romney’s decades of liberalism because they felt Obama would be worse. The GOP INTENTIONALLY interpreted that as a green light to get more liberal. Now they are fully complicit.
But had we elected Romney instead, does anyone honestly think he would have disavowed his decades of liberalism once in office? The guy that replaced Kerry as the grandmaster of the flip flop would have gone right back to his Ted Kennedy loving ways and we would STILL be in hell. But then WE would be responsible.
We cannot kick the can out of this. We cannot accept lesser evil. We are far enough from the election to make it known and for actual conservatives to rise up.
If we want conservatism, we have to vote for it, not make more excuses about ‘winning’ because the ‘winners’ don’t.
“Another expert on Massachusetts politics? Cool! “
No, never claimed to be, but I do know something about Mormons.
I'm a conservative, not a Republican.
